Where Dragons Thrive, Blazing We Rise! ✨🐉
🕊️ Peace Quote of the Week
“Peace is what every human being is craving, and it can be brought about by humanity through the child.”
— Maria Montessori
A reminder that the work we do daily—guiding, modeling, and nurturing—lays the foundation for a more peaceful world.
Montessori Night – Thank You! 💙
Thank you to everyone who helped make Montessori Night on Tuesday a success! From preparing classrooms and materials, to welcoming parents, to facilitating conversations—your efforts were evident. Families felt supported and engaged, and the evening reflected the collaborative spirit of our campus.
PTA Meeting – Thank You, Dragon Families! 🙌
Thank you to everyone who attended the PTA meeting this past Tuesday. Your collaboration, questions, and volunteer spirit fuel our campus. We appreciate our PTA leaders, staff and committee chairs for organizing, communicating, and finding meaningful ways for families to support our students and staff. When our families show up, our children see community in action—and that’s powerful Peace Education, too.
Montessori Peace Education at Dealey
Peace Education is central to our Montessori mission and to the vision of our campus. At Dealey, students learn:
-
Grace & Courtesy – kindness, respect, and cooperation practiced daily.
-
Conflict Resolution – tools to solve disagreements respectfully.
-
Global Awareness – understanding cultures and perspectives around the world.
-
Community Responsibility – care for self, others, and environment.
These lessons remind us that our daily modeling—how we speak, interact, and carry ourselves—becomes the most powerful peace lesson for our students.
Dealey: An International Peace Site ✨
As an International Peace Site, we are committed to:
-
Promoting understanding and respect for all.
-
Providing a safe, supportive environment for every child.
-
Celebrating diversity as a strength.
-
Inspiring globally minded citizens.
This designation is not only a title but a call to action for us to weave peace into our curriculum, culture, and climate.
Adults as Role Models of Peace 💫
Every adult on our campus is a living example of peace education. Students watch how we respond under pressure, how we greet each other, and how we resolve conflict. The consistency of our modeling shapes the environment more than any single lesson plan.
Let us continue to be mindful that our words, tone, and actions are the template children will replicate.
Showcasing Our Peace Work 📸
Our students were leaders in the International Peace Site ceremony, reciting Gandhi’s Prayer for Peace. This moment reflects their ability to carry forward what we model daily in classrooms.
See the highlight here: Dealey Students Lead Gandhi’s Peace Poem 🕊️
This is a wonderful reminder that the peace work you do each day is visible not only to families, but to the wider community as well.
Supporting Peace at Home & School
When parents ask how to extend peace education, we can suggest:
-
Gratitude and kindness rituals.
-
Respectful communication practices.
-
Cultural exploration at home.
-
Modeling calm and peaceful responses.
Encouraging families in this way ensures continuity of our work beyond the school walls.
✨ Thank you, Dragons, for living our vision and modeling peace. Your consistency makes Dealey a place where students thrive.
With gratitude and peace,
Love❤️ Principal Amber Garrett

✅ Important Info: SB571- Expanded Employee Misconduct Reporting Requirements
✅ Important Information: Senate Bill 571- Expanded Employee Misconduct Reporting Requirements
During the 89th Texas Legislature’s regular session, amendments to Senate Bill 571 introduced new requirements for reporting educator misconduct and child abuse. These changes will alter the District’s process for submitting misconduct reports to the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) and Texas Education Agency (TEA).
Three key changes to Senate Bill 571:
A professional who has reasonable cause to believe a child has been abused or neglected is required to make a report to the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) or law enforcement within 24 hours after the professional has reasonable belief that the child has been abused or neglected.
A principal must report alleged misconduct by all employees and service providers to the superintendent within 48 hours of becoming aware of evidence of misconduct.
A superintendent must report the allegations of misconduct through TEA’s Misconduct Reporting Portal within 48 hours of becoming aware of evidence of misconduct
These key changes will go into effect on September 1, 2025. To comply with the new reporting requirement, campus administrators are required to submit a Critical Incident Report, per DHB/DHC(Regulation). Office Managers and other campus staff may not have access to the CIR system.

Seeking Parent Garden Volunteers for PreK - 5th Grade Classrooms -
Parent Gardening Volunteers work with their child's PreK/K or Lower Elementary teacher to determine a mutually convenient time to take students out to the garden each week (or every other week) during school hours. The time commitment for the Parent Gardening Volunteers is typically 60 - 90 minutes per gardening session, and the role can be shared between several parents in one classroom. 4th and 5th Grade students may also participate in gardening if a parent volunteer is available and their teacher desires for them to participate in gardening. We are planning to begin gardening with the students the week of September 8. If you are interested in serving as a Gardening Volunteer or learning more about this volunteer role, please contact Andrea Montillo (andreamontillo@gmail.com).
