Mustang News: March 13, 2026
From the Principal's Desk
This past week brought some challenging moments for our school community. On Tuesday, we implemented a secure the perimeter protocol, and we recognize that situations like this can feel unsettling for students, families, and staff. We want to sincerely thank everyone for their patience, understanding, and trust as we worked through the situation. Our staff takes these protocols very seriously, and our priority is always the safety and well-being of every student in our care. We are grateful for the partnership and support of our families during moments like these. We also want to thank all of our law enforcement partners for their constant collaboration. Looking ahead, we hope everyone is able to enjoy a well-deserved spring break next week. When we return, we will begin the final quarter of the school year, which always seems to go by quickly. The last quarter includes CMAS testing along with many of the activities and celebrations that make spring such a fun time at school. We are looking forward to finishing the year strong together.

Next week for lunch...
Today we are wrapping up the 3rd quarter at GMS and we are so proud of the hard work and dedication that our students have shown so far this year. Catching up on much-needed rest during spring break is so important, yet so is maintaining a good sleep routine. I've seen different opinions about how much sleep our teenagers should be getting, but it seems like 8-10 hours a night is pretty optimal. Finding a balance with sleep will strengthen the immune system, aid in muscle recovery, improve academic performance by enhancing focus and memory, and help manage mood swings and stress. As tempting as it is to stay up late and then sleep in late, trying to keep bedtimes and waking times within an hour or two of their school bedtimes and waking times will help tremendously when it comes time to come back to school on March 23rd. As always, reach out if there is anything that I can do to help and support, and I hope you can enjoy some extra time with family and friends this next week!
