Happy Monday DKMS Panther Families! I hope you all had a lovely Mother's Day weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather!
Tomorrow, Tuesday May 13th, our students will take their Reading NWEA assessments starting at 9:45 am. Please make sure your child:
- Gets a good night's rest
- Charges and brings their Chromebook to school
- Eats breakfast
- Tries their best on the assessment
Thursday May 15th, students will take their Math NWEA assessment.
5th, 6th, and 7th grade students received Summer Camp permission slips today. These slips go over the dates, times, classes, meals, and transportation we will be offering for our DKMS Summer Camp. If you would like your child to attend, please fill out the registration form and have them return it to their teacher by Friday May 23, 2025. If your child does not need transportation to and from school, do not fill out the Transportation Request form. If you have any questions please contact the middle school office at (269) 623-1541 or email me at bobby.tillman@dkschools.org. 8th grade students will be receiving a permission slip for the High School Orientation classes we are offering this summer very soon.
Friday May 16th, our 8th grade students will be having their Casino Royale Dance from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm in our cafeteria. This dance is for 8th grade DKMS students only. If you have any questions please contact the middle school office at (269) 623-1541.
As we get closer to the end of May our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade field trips are quickly approaching. These field trips are non-refundable at this point. It is important that students continue to make good decisions that will lead them to remaining eligible for these trips. If you have a question about the field trip or your child's eligibility please reach out to one of your child's teachers.
As always I would like to thank our students, staff, families, and community for all of their hard work in helping our students and school succeed. We are down to our last four weeks (18 days) of school for the year. It is important that we finish this year off strong! Have a great week!
It's a great day to be a PANTHER!!
Thank you,

Celebrating Our Amazing Teachers and Staff!
Last week, May 5th–9th, we celebrated Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week at DKMS! It was a fun and thoughtful week filled with treats, gifts, and big smiles.
A special thank-you goes to PIE (Partners in Education) for all they did to make our school feel special. As usual they went above and beyond! They decorated the building with beautiful flowers and bright spring decorations, making everything feel cheerful and welcoming.
PIE also made sure everyone felt included—even Mr. Cooper, our therapy dog, got a box of treats to thank him for all he does for our students!
We’re so lucky to have such caring teachers, staff, and families at DKMS. Thank you for all you do!
Middle School Track Team Shines at Parchment Relays!

DKMS 8th Graders Learn the Facts on Nicotine, Cannabis & Opioids
Mrs. Ingle’s 8th grade Health classes are getting important lessons on making healthy choices, thanks to special guests from the Barry County Community Health Authority.
Presenters were visiting the classroom last week and have one more session scheduled for today Monday, May 12th. The presentations cover serious topics such as nicotine, cannabis, and prescription opioids. Students are learning how these substances can affect their bodies and minds, as well as how to make smart decisions to stay safe and healthy.
We’re thankful to the Barry County Community Health Authority for helping educate our students and supporting the health of our DKMS community!
Racing into Action: Jerrit Rench Hits the Track!
Delton Kellogg Middle School 8th grader Jerrit Rench has taken on a fast new hobby—racing Front Wheel Drive cars at Galesburg Speedway!
Jerrit is new to the sport, with only three races so far. But he’s already off to a great start—he took 1st place in his very first race and finished 2nd last weekend. Each race includes a 15-lap heat and/or a 20-lap feature.
Jerrit’s older brother, Jordan, races at Kalamazoo Speedway, and the two are enjoying the sport together. It’s a great way for them to spend time together working on their cars.
If you’re looking for something fun to do on the weekend, head over to Galesburg Speedway on Saturdays and cheer Jerrit on as he races!
Way to go, Jerrit!
