Summer Reading Lists
Summer reading lists are now available! Students will receive a printed copy of the letter to families and book lists next week, which are also included below. Additional resources are attached here for anyone interested—these will not be printed in order to save paper.
If you have any questions about summer reading, please contact your ELA teacher or Ms. Estee.
Culture Day
As part of Spirit Month, students were invited to proudly represent their cultures last week—and they truly showed up in full force! It was inspiring to see the richness and diversity of cultures across our school community. We celebrate and appreciate the unique backgrounds each student brings. A special thank you to Ms. Martinez for capturing these wonderful moments!
8th Grade Semi-Formal
Our eighth graders had their semi-formal dance on Monday. Our students looked wonderful and enjoyed a fantastic evening filled with dancing, snacks, and fun at the selfie station.
A huge thank you to our 8th grade teachers for the many hours they volunteered to make this event possible. Ms. Rodenbush, Mrs. Senier, and Mrs. Darling spent countless hours ensuring everything ran smoothly. This event would not have been possible without their dedication and hard work.
Thank you as well to Mr. Fortes for providing the music as our DJ, and to all of our chaperones: Ms. Hart, Mrs. Barone, Ms. Hippolyte, Mr. O’Brien, Mr. Ahern, Ms. Estee, Mr. Wescott, Ms. Deane, Ms. Pires, Ms. Wood, Ms. Furlong, Ms. C. Furlong, Ms. Martinez, Ms. Alicea, Ms. Brakefield, and Mr. Kawalec.
This event truly could not have happened without everyone’s support. Thank you!
8th Grade BBQ
As a final hurrah before leaving Plouffe, our 8th grade students enjoyed a special BBQ lunch on Wednesday. It was a beautiful day for a picnic, filled with games, laughter, and the chance to spend their last few hours together as middle school students with friends.
A heartfelt thank you to our grill masters—Mr. Wescott, Dr. Mac, Mr. Donovan, and Mr. Baugh—for cooking up a fantastic meal, and to Mr. Fortes for providing the music. We are also incredibly grateful to our amazing cafeteria staff for preparing the food and drinks, and to Ms. Rodenbush, Ms. Senier, and Ms. Darling for their tireless efforts in organizing such a memorable event. Finally, thank you to the 8th grade team for chaperoning, supervising, and helping with cleanup.
We truly appreciate all of your hard work in making this celebration so special for our students!
8th Grade Graduation
The eighth grade class of 2026 celebrated a memorable milestone yesterday as they gathered for their graduation ceremony, marking the end of an important chapter in their academic journey. The day could not have been more perfect, with beautiful weather and an atmosphere filled with pride, joy, and excitement. Students were recognized not only for their academic and athletic accomplishments, but also for their growth, perseverance, and contributions to the school community throughout their middle school years. Teachers, families, and friends came together to honor these achievements and reflect on the many memories shared along the way.
While it is bittersweet to say goodbye and know we will no longer see their familiar faces in our hallways each day, we are filled with confidence and hope for their bright futures. Each student leaves with the skills, knowledge, and determination needed to succeed in high school and beyond. We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished and the individuals they have become. Congratulations to the 8th grade class of 2026—we wish you continued success and look forward to all the amazing things you will achieve!
