Transportation Update Transportation Update

Royse City ISD Families,

If you are wishing for your child to ride a school bus in 2024-2025, you may make that request known by filling out the required Back to School Forms in Family Access. Below are a few helpful reminders as you prepare your family for a great school year and bus ridership.

  1. Please ensure that your students’ main point of contact is accurate and up-to-date in Family Access. This is how you will receive important information. It is also imperative that your home address is accurate in Family Access as we plan our daily routes.

  2. All PreK to 2nd graders will need a guardian to receive them at afternoon drop off. If there is a 3rd grade or older sibling or family member on the bus, they may exit the bus together without a guardian.

  3. Bus information for your student will be available starting on August 1. An email will be sent to the main contact (#1) listed in your student’s Family Access profile. Included will be information about the Stop Finder app and specifics on your student’s assigned bus.

  4. In response to the ongoing growth of Royse City ISD, we have transitioned from using animal characters to identify routes to using double-digit route numbers for students. This change will standardize the route identifier system across all campuses and age groups. It will be important for your child to know their route number which will be displayed on the outside of the bus on the route placard sign next to the front door.

First Day Drop Off

Parents have the opportunity to walk their students to class on the first day or follow our normal drop off procedures as indicated below.

If you choose to walk your student to class please do not park in any of the fire lanes or block our drop off route in the loop. You must find a parking spot or park in the neighborhood and walk.

We will have staff on hand with class lists to help students get to their classroom. If you know your student is shy please attach something to their shirt or backpack with their name so that a teacher can get them to the correct classroom in the event that they won't talk to share the information.

After the first day parents will not be allowed to walk students to their classrooms

Arrival Procedures

ARRIVAL:

FRONT OF BUILDING:

Walkers, Daycares, and Buses ONLY

Do not drop off in the front of the building!

BACK OF BUILDING:

There will be two lines for drop off.

Your child may begin to exit their vehicles as you enter the awning area if you are in the interior lane. Some staff will be available to assist but it runs more smoothly and quickly if your child can open their own door and get out.

A staff member will assist your student out of the car if you are in the outside lane. They will then be walked to a central location and a crossing guard will stop vehicles to get them across.

Adults will be outside to ensure your child is safe and will happily open vehicle doors of any student whom needs assistance.

Dismissal Procedures

DISMISSAL:

If you need to make Dismissal Changes those need to be made by calling the front office by 2:00PM or there is a strong chance your student will go home the way they normally do.

FRONT OF BUILDING:

Bus and Walkers ONLY

WALKERS:

Walkers will not gather at the bike racks (in front of the building) for parents meeting their children. Teachers will escort them in a line out the building to the crosswalk. Please wait across the street for your child. Older siblings (Gr4-5) may wait by the bike racks for their younger sibling before crossing the crosswalks.

BACK OF BUILDING:

The gate will open at 2:30. Please form two lines when entering. You will be given a name/number sign to put around your front mirror. Two staff members will greet you each day and use that code to line the students in order. All students will be brought to your vehicle by an adult. The gate will close at 3:20.

**For both drop off and pickup; please enter from Erby Campbell; there is no way for you to join the drop off/pickup line if you enter from the service road**

Attendance Procedures

After each absence please send in a paper note or email to Heather Wadsworth at heather.wadsworth@rcisd.org.

5 days unexcused absence - parents will have to sign an attendance contract

7 days unexcused absence - parents will have to attend an attendance committee meeting

10 days unexcused absence - truancy will be filed with the county

Please send in those notes so that we can get those unexcused absences changed to excused! At this age attendance is not a student responsibility but a parent responsibility so please ensure your children are at school when they are healthy!

At Scott we SHINE

Students will have the opportunity to earn SHINE slips again this year! When they earn them the student will go on a bingo board. When that BINGO has 15 in a row those students will earn a prize and the BINGO board will start over. So - the more SHINE slips you earn the better your chances!

If you would like to donate to our Prize options for BINGO students please use the link below. We have created a wish list of ideas!

Scott Elementary "House" System

This year we will continue implementing our house system on campus. This will allow us to have some friendly competitions and create community across the different classes and grade levels. Returning students will continue in the same houses. New students will spin a wheel to determine their "house" at our first house rally! New students will then come home with a bracelet in that color. When we do "House Rallies" we will have students dress up in their colors! Below are when the sorting will take place!
