Finding us online
October 16, 2026
- On Friday, October 23rd, we will be holding our first Lockdown Safety Drill of the year. This will be an announced drill, with all teachers talking to students in developmentally appropriate ways about what to expect. The police are also available to talk to students, answer questions, and ensure that students feel safe. Please be aware that this is NOT an active shooter type drill. There is no simulation or anything in place that will scare students. Much like we practice fire drills multiple times per year, we practice lockdown drills as well. This is to ensure that everyone knows what to do in an emergency. Please reach out to me if you have any specific questions or if you would like to ensure that your child speaks with an adult either before or after the drill.
- Our annual School Hike is scheduled to take place on Friday, October 30th. We will be visiting the High Ledges and the Firetower in Shelburne. There will be a variety of lengths of hikes that students will participate in, based on their ages. By now, you should have seen and signed a permission slip for this trip. Please reach out to the school if you have not received one.
- This year, we are going to observe several Spirit Days over the course of the year. They will typically be held on the first Friday of the month. The first one will be on Friday, November 6th and will be "Wear Your Favorite Color" Day.
Calling all MTRS Alumni
Each December we invite alumni back to share their post-Mohawk Trail Regional School experience with the current student body in a panel format. This year, we are shakin' things up!
Instead of hosting an Alumni Panel, we would like to host an "Opportunities Fair" where YOU, the Mohawk Trail Regional Alumni, are the reps! Yes, that's right - think tables with info about your college or training agency and, instead of an admissions rep behind the table - YOU are repping your school, program, or career. Whaddaya say? This event is scheduled for Monday, December 21 from 9 a.m. to 12:45 pm.
Are you in college or a recent grad? Perfect! - come set up a table representing your college. Working on a certificate or recently completed one? Great! - come set up a table representing your program. Did you enter the world of work? Love it! - come set up a table representing your employer.

News from our Library
CCS and GML have partnered to share several books in the StoryWalk© format. Come to Griswold Memorial Library over the next few weeks, take a stroll, and read a book that's posted around the backyard. All the books connect to the ELA units in K-2nd grades.

The Local Education Council needs you!
The Local Education Council (LEC) is looking for two family representatives. The LEC is an advisory board to the principal that meets monthly to discuss the School Improvement Plan and other aspects of our school. If you are interested in learning more, please contact me and I'd be happy to discuss it with you.
