Statement Regarding School Threat

Last night, the Safe Schools Help Line received a report that a student threatened to bring a weapon to Martinsburg High School today.

Law enforcement immediately launched an investigation, and a student was later arrested in connection with the threat. Thanks to this swift action, the situation was resolved before the start of the school day. At no time were students or staff in danger.

We appreciate the Martinsburg City Police Department and our law enforcement partners for their quick response and their continued efforts to keep our schools safe. We also thank Martinsburg High School administration for their close coordination with law enforcement throughout this situation. As the Martinsburg City Police emphasize in the statement below, all threats of violence are taken seriously and will be met with immediate investigation and appropriate action.

The student involved will face disciplinary consequences per Berkeley County Schools policy and applicable law.

The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. We urge our school community to continue reporting any safety concerns through the Safe Schools Help Line , the See Something, Send Something app, or directly to school officials.
