Monday Memo - February 9, 2026
Thanks to the support and trust of our community, Jarrell Independent School District’s 2023 Bond is delivering on its promise to expand opportunities, improve learning environments, and prepare students for the future.
Over the past three years, bond-funded projects have transformed our district in meaningful ways—creating modern, safe, and inspiring spaces for students and staff.
Major Milestones Achieved
Jarrell Ranch Middle School - Opened August 2025 - On time and $1.2 million below budget
Our new middle school offers expanded classroom space, modern learning labs, collaborative areas, and improved student amenities. Designed with student success in mind, the campus supports both academic growth and social development during these critical years. Visit the campus Facebook page to follow student celebrations, campus events, and daily photos of what students are learning.
District Operations Center - Opened August 2025 - On time and $600,000 below budget
The District Operations Center is a 28,000-square-foot multipurpose space for the district's facilities team, custodial services, and transportation. Having the three departments share space streamlines our services for efficiency. The building features a bus wash station, fuel pumps (which save the district thousands of dollars in fuel costs), multiple lifts for bus repairs, and space for professional development. The district built the Ops Center on land it already owned near the high school. Using this site saved the district nearly $2 million.
Jarrell High School Expansion: Phase 1 - Opened in August 2025
Phase 1 of Jarrell High School’s expansion project was completed in the Fall of 2025. It consisted of building a new front entrance to the school, including a larger vestibule for our families and visitors. As well as new office space for administration, counselors, and the nurse clinic. Phase 1 includes a state-of-the-art library with more book space, flex space for testing, private breakout rooms for students to collaborate on projects, a digital media room, and more square footage. Phase 1 also includes a brand new AG Barn with on-site classroom space, larger animal pens, and a show ring for students to practice working with their animals. The expansion of Jarrell High School also added more classroom space and improved facilities in the Fine Arts wing, enabling us to support more students and offer additional classes.
Jarrell High School Expansion: Phase 2 - (New Career & Technical Education (CTE) Building and Gym)
Construction is underway on a state-of-the-art CTE facility at Jarrell High School that will provide hands-on learning opportunities in high-demand career pathways. This building will help students graduate with industry-ready skills, certifications, and real-world experience. As we continue to experience record growth, the new gymnasium will provide a larger space for our student-athletes and competitions.
Coming Soon
Berry Creek Elementary School - On track to finish construction early and $500,000 below budget
The newly built elementary school will open to students in August 2026. The land for the school was generously donated to the district, saving $4 million. The new school offers a bright, welcoming environment for our youngest learners, featuring updated classrooms, dedicated learning spaces, enhanced safety features, and room to serve our growing community within the southern part of the Jarrell ISD school boundaries.
Last month, Lara Hutchinson was named Principal. In the coming months, we’ll share information about the updated attendance zones. Also, look for communication from Mrs. Hutchinson and updates on upcoming campus events.
Paw Prints - On track to finish by this summer
Through the 2023 Bond Program, we are proud to build a new Paw Prints facility for school employees. Providing on-site childcare is a meaningful investment in our staff and their families.
This new space will provide a safe, loving environment for employees’ children, offering peace of mind, support, and convenience to the dedicated educators and staff who give so much to our community every day. It’s more than a building—it’s a promise that we value our people, their families, and the heart they bring to our schools. When our staff feel supported, our students thrive, and our entire community grows stronger.
The new facility is being repurposed by using the district’s former central office as its structure. The land is also owned by Jarrell ISD, which is saving the district $2 million.
Atlas Ranch Elementary School - Preliminary work underway
Atlas Ranch Elementary will be the district's fifth elementary school. It's being built in the Atlas Ranch planned community. The land on which the school will be built was donated by Matt Michelsen of Atlas Ranch. The generous donation is saving the district $2.8 million. Huckabee Architects have been selected to design the school. A schematic design for the new school should be ready by the summer. The new school is scheduled to open in the 2027 - 28 school year.
Every project reflects our commitment to being responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars while creating long-term value for students and families. To date, the district has saved about $13 million by being strategic and forward-thinking in purchasing supplies, negotiating contracts, and accepting land donations.
Your belief in Jarrell ISD has made it possible to build facilities that match our students' potential. Together, we are not just building schools—we are creating futures.
