Principal's Update Principal's Update

Happy Thursday, Panther Families!

As we move further into the semester, I want to take a moment to thank our students and staff for their continued hard work and dedication. It has been great to see our Panthers staying focused in the classroom, supporting one another, and showing pride in our school community.

Please continue to encourage your students to stay organized, complete assignments on time, and communicate with their teachers if they need support. Consistent attendance and effort make a big difference in student success.

A few reminders for this week:

• Attendance Matters: Being at school every day and on time helps students stay on track with learning.

• Stay Connected: Be sure to check communication from teachers and the school for updates on assignments, events, and important announcements.

• Panther Pride: We encourage all students to represent Ridgeview by being respectful, responsible, and ready to learn each day.

We appreciate the partnership we have with our families. Your support plays an important role in helping our students grow academically and socially. Thank you for all you do to support Ridgeview Charter Middle School.

Let’s finish the week strong, Panthers!

Principal Thomas Garrett

Year-end Decisions on High School Credit

If your child is enrolled in a high school credit course, you will have the option to accept or decline credit for each class. In May, you will receive an email with detailed information once teachers have finalized grades. At that time, you will be asked to respond via email with your decision for each course. If you choose to accept the credit, the grade will be recorded on your child’s high school transcript. If you choose to decline the credit, the grade will not appear on the transcript, and your child may be required to retake the course in high school.

The following courses are eligible for high school credit:

  • Enhanced Algebra

  • Geometry
  • Enhanced Literature/Composition 1

  • Physical Science

Building Parent Capacity: Understanding Standardized Testing

Understanding the role of testing will help you to enable your child to succeed in school and to develop a better relationship between your family and your child's school. Usually created by commercial test publishers, standardized tests are designed to give a common measure of students' performance. Because large numbers of students throughout the country take the same test, they give educators a common yardstick or ``standard'' of measure. Educators use these standardized tests to tell how well school programs are succeeding or to give themselves a picture of the skills and abilities of today's students.
