Timber Talks
River Mill Elementary - September 5, 2025
Dear River Mill Families,
This week, we welcomed our Pre-K and Kindergarten students to River Mill, and they did so well! Their excitement and energy brought extra positivity to our building, and we love having our newest Timbers among us!
As we start to head into the cold and flu season, we wanted to remind families that if your child is going to be absent, please call or email our office staff. We will then communicate with the classroom teachers for you, and we can excuse your child's absence. You can call at 503-630-8517 or email rmeoffice@estacada.k12.or.us
On Friday, September 12th, we will be holding our first Responsive, Extensions, Interventions and Development (REID) Day. This provides our staff with the flexibility to respond to specific skills and/or extensions that our students need. Each week, you can expect to potentially receive an invitation email for your child to attend our REID days for the month. If so, we ask that you RSVP, through the RSVP link in the email. This allows us to know if your child will be in attendance and for our transportation team to plan accordingly. Transportation will also send out a follow-up communication so you know how to plan for the bus times. Please note that breakfast is not served on REID days, and your child will need to eat before they come to school. However, we will provide a free snack before students go home, to be eaten at school. Because students are specifically invited based on a skill they are working on, please do not send your child to school if they are not invited to the REID day. Our teachers plan specifically for those who will be in attendance. If you send your child, we will call you to come pick them up. Lastly, we really need you to update Pick Up Patrol for your child's dismissal plan on REID Day.
Below you will find a HomeTown Ticket RSVP link for our Fall Bingo Night coming up on Thursday, September 18th. We can't wait to welcome you all for a fun evening of with your family and our school community. Bingo cards will be available for purchase at $2 each, and concessions will be available for purchase as well. We can't wait to see you there. Please RSVP with your Hometown Ticket in advance. If you do not, we will ask you to step out of line to complete this task. Thank you for understanding.
Thank you for your partnership. Have a wonderful weekend, and we can't wait to see students again on Monday!

All Smiles Community Oral Health
All Smiles Community Oral Health will be providing free dental screenings, sealants, and fluoride at your child’s school the Week of October 13, 2025. Healthy teeth are important to your child’s overall health. A dental screening is a quick look inside your child’s mouth to check the overall health of their teeth. Dental sealants are protective coatings put on the back teeth to prevent cavities and fluoride is a vitamin that is brushed on the teeth to make teeth stronger and prevent cavities. Click this link to sign the permission form for your child online. Forms are to be turned in by October 8th.
PickUp Patrol -- How is your child getting home?
FOR ALL FAMILIES: TO BE COMPLETED BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
To ensure the safety of all our students, we ask that all families use the PickUp Patrol app to inform us of their child's daily transportation plans. Please make sure you have set up your child's plans for the first day of school and for the rest of the school year. This is an essential step for the first day of school. You can update these plans at any time! Registration emails were sent earlier this week.
If you need any help or support, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We're here and happy to assist!

Cell Phones and Personal Electronic Devices
Cell phones and personal electronic devices need to be put in student’s backpack bell to bell. A personal electronic device—commonly referred to as a ‘cell phone’—is any device capable of making and receiving calls, sending text messages, or accessing the internet independently from the school’s network. This includes, but is not limited to, smartphones, flip phones, tablets, e-readers, smartwatches, smart glasses, and other web-capable devices, as well as the headphones or earbuds connected to them. In alignment with Executive Order 25-09 from the Oregon Governor’s Office (and ESD policy JFCEB), we will be following the guidance that electronic devices not be used during the school day. Students who disobey this rule or are in noncompliance with this rule, will have a conversation with the staff member to be reminded of the expectations on their first offense. For a second offense, the cell phone will be taken to the office until the end of the day. Parents will be notified and a meeting with school administration will be set up. If there is a third offense, the device will again be temporarily held, parents will be informed, and another meeting will be set up. Beyond a third instance of noncompliance, the school will determine appropriate consequences, always prioritizing keeping students in class and engaged in learning. The Elementary Schools will not be responsible for loss or damage to students’ cell phones or personal electronic devices brought to school.
