Principal Update
Good Evening Sheiko Families,
Thank you so much for all of your generous donations to our school. This year's Fund Run was like no other! We are so thankful for the time and effort that you have put into our fundraising this year. The money will allow us to host many family events such as our upcoming Trunk-or-Treat. PTO is also sponsoring our kindergarten and first grade classes to go see Peter Pan at WBHS, to name a few!
This week's "Big Announcement" is about our fourth grade students having a presentation from Office Crider on October 5th called, "OK2Say". It is a very valuable presentation with "life topics".
Topics Addressed:
- Introduction to OK2SAY and How the Tipline Works
- Talking to a Trusted Adult
- Tattling vs Reporting
- Recognizing Rude, Mean, and Bullying Behaviors
- Effective Responses to Bullying and Cyberbullying
- Online and Offline Safety & Dangers of Internet Predators
- Ways to Help a Friend
Below is more information and an opt out form if you do not want your child to participate. If you do not want your child to participate, please fill out the form and email your child's teacher and Mrs. McDowell.

Dismissal Update
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Starting Monday, 9/28/2026 students are only permitted to be designated as "walkers" if your primary residence is within a 1-mile radius of the school. If you live outside this 1-mile zone, your child must be picked up via the car line or ride their assigned school bus.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our dismissals safe and organized!
Volunteers and Visitors to the Building
Unscheduled visitors coming to the building will not be permitted to enter past the front office. Drop-in visitors will not be allowed to enter the building without a pre-scheduled appointment. We will continue this approach in an effort to maximize safety and security while minimizing disruptions to learning.
Volunteers, both parent/community volunteers (Reading Mentors, Watch DOGS, classroom volunteers, etc.) as well as student mentors in programs such as the professional apprenticeship, are permitted under the following circumstances:
- They must have approval from the principal and teacher before volunteering.
- Interested volunteers must also complete a volunteer form and provide a copy of their driver’s license/ID to the school’s office staff upon request. Once completed, the paperwork is forwarded to HR for a background check (ICHAT).
- iCHAT background checks are still required for all non-student volunteers.
