November 7, 2024

Dear families,

It’s stick season. Winter is coming; but for those of us who yearn for it, not nearly fast enough. There are endless outside chores - wood to stack, leaves to rake. The weather is unpredictable, leaving us constantly over- or under-dressed. And every day is a little shorter than the last.

In spite of the dreary skies, every day I see warmth, joy and wonder in our Cornwall community. We spent the first eight weeks establishing routines and teaching the behaviors we expect. Now, those routines and expectations are bearing fruit. In the last couple of weeks, I have spent a lot of time in classrooms. I see our students manipulating the red-and-white number racks and base ten pieces with more confidence; readers and spellers are practicing, practicing, practicing and increasing their stamina for pushing through challenging moments. Everywhere, there is learning.

In partnership,

Nadya

PS I’m sending out this newsletter early, because TOMORROW IS THE LAST DAY TO ORDER YOUR CORNWALL MERCH!

Snapshots from Cornwall School Snapshots from Cornwall School

4th Grade

Fourth graders have been learning about the democratic process, the three branches of government and all about citizenship. They are reading the play, “Let Us Vote!” by Spencer Kayden, about women fighting for their right to vote in the early 1900’s. And on Wednesday of this week, the whole class headed to Montpelier for a visit and tour of the State House and the Vermont History Museum.

We're so grateful that our students had this opportunity!
