Activities

December - Grade Tardy Challenge update: 5th grade - 15, 6th grade - 3, 7th grade 30, and 8th grade 30. Remember the winning grade receives ice cream.

Students, please check the lost and found for any items you may be missing . Please take a look before it is donated.

It is located in the Gym Commons, thank you !

It is time once again to dig out that loose change. Penny Wars for the Angel Tree have official started. Remember coins add to your total and paper money subtracts from your total. For example if 5th grade has 2 quarters in their bucket and 8th grade has a dollar bill in their bucket 8th grade would be losing. 5th grade would have positive 50 cents and 8th grade would have negative $1 The Penny War will end on Friday, December 13th.

If I would have to guess I would say 6th grade in now in the lead.

The SWMS Student Art Show is on display at the Sturgis Library through December 31. Stop by and check it out!

Calling All Artists

The South Dakota Department of Transportation and South Dakota Pilots Association are seeking students to enter the 2025 International Aviation Art Contest. The theme is Women with Wings and we would like to invite students ages 6 - 17 to submit artwork inspired by the daring women who have defied society's expectations, taking to the air and proving that the sky is a place for everyone. All artwork must be 11 3/4 by 16 1/2 inches or the nearest possible equivalent in size to be considered for the contest. Prizes will be awarded for 1st - 3rd place. All entries must be received by January 7, 2025. There is more information in the office.

Staff Member of the Month

Do you know a staff member that goes above and beyond to be kind and helpful? Please, nominate them for the PTSA staff member of the month. Nomination forms can be found in the office.

Safety

Absolutely no medication on your person, over the counter or otherwise. All medication must be given through the nurse's office.

Backpacks are to be left in your lockers. Our classrooms are very small and backpacks clutter the aisle. It is a safety thing. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
