West Belmar
WB In the Bear Cave

June 2026
A Message From Principal Abeal
Dear West Belmar Parents,
It is hard to believe that the 2025-26 school year is coming to a close. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the bear cubs for a tremendous year of academic, social and physical growth, due to all of the hard work.
The week of June 15th – 18th will be the last days of school with early dismissal days on the 16th, 17th and 18th with a 1:05 dismissal. Our Bear Cubs Award ceremony will be held on Thursday, the 18th at 10:00 AM. Please remember class placement and classroom assignment will be sent home during the latter part of August.
The district will have is Summer Knights Academy beginning on June 29th and running through July 23rd. The program will take place at West Belmar School, Monday - Thursday from 9:30 am - 1:30 pm. This is a great summer opportunity for our students.
Please find the link to Summer Slide Presentation for learning activities your child can do over the summer to avoid the summer slide.
I wish everyone a summer filled with relaxation, family fun and enjoyment.
Most sincerely,
Anthony

Attendance Matters at the WB!
Why Every Day Matters
Good attendance lays the foundation for a child’s academic success. When students attend school regularly, they keep up with class lessons, build confidence, and develop strong relationships with teachers and peers. Even just two absences per month (about 10% of the school year) can create gaps in learning and make it harder to catch up. We encourage families to make every effort to have students present and on time, because every day really does add up. We need our "Bear Cubs in the Cave"!

WTPS Appoints Dr. David Bleakley as New Superintendent of Schools
As you are aware, Dr. Handerhan announced back in the fall that she will be retiring at the end of this school year. Since then, the Wall Township Board of Education has been actively engaged in the search for a new Superintendent of Schools. At last night’s Board of Education Meeting, the Board of Education appointed Dr. David Bleakley as the next WTPS Superintendent of Schools, effective July 1, 2026. Dr. Bleakley brings with him over 20 years of educational experience, and the Board of Education is thrilled to welcome him to the District.
