ALL IN ON ATTENDANCE – Spring into Attendance

Spring brings renewed energy—keep that momentum going by being present every day. Students with strong attendance in March are twice as likely to improve reading scores by spring testing. The late bell rings at 7:40am. Students should be in their classroom ready to learn at that time.

Please email our attendance email/ data clerk (cogburnattendance@fultonschools.org) and copy your child’s teacher when your child is absent. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to your school social worker, Randi Downey, LCSW downeyr@fultonschools.org or at 470-317-8530.

Book Signing Event with Author, Mrs. Greene!

Join us on April 17th at 5:00 PM at Cogburn Woods Elementary for a special book signing with our very own Mrs. Greene! A portion of all proceeds will be donated to support the School Counseling Department.

A Magical Day with Gracie is a heartwarming story that teaches children how to manage big feelings using Butterfly Breaths and happy thoughts. With simple, kid-friendly coping strategies, young readers learn to build courage, confidence, and calm—skills they can carry with them throughout their day. Bring your family, meet Mrs. Greene, and help support emotional wellness at our school. 💛 We can’t wait to see you there!

Placement Letters

One of the most exciting tasks, which presents the greatest opportunity for all children to learn and succeed, is to create classrooms. Among the variables we consider are class size, gender and ethnicity ratios, ability and exceptionality distribution, special learning needs, student personalities, and learning and teaching styles. Each year teachers, counselors, and administrators work together to find an appropriate assignment for each student, and we welcome your parental input as we begin this thoughtful and important process. Completing a placement letter is neither necessary nor required and often addresses the exception rather than the rule. However, we want to be sure that parents have an opportunity to share concerns with us.

If you feel your child has specific learning needs or unique considerations that should be brought to our attention, please write/type a placement letter. Please do NOT ask for a specific teacher by name, but instead describe the environment that you feel might best support your child’s learning needs. List the things you think we should take into consideration, such as separating best friends, personal or family challenges, or student behaviors or interests. These letters will be shared with your child’s teacher next fall. Once our class assignments are made and school begins, placements are tentative through the 10-day count. However, we work hard to create classes that require no changes outside of increasing enrollment.

Any input regarding this process must occur through the return of this letter and cannot be honored in any other way. We cannot accept emails, phone calls, nor can we hold personal conferences regarding student placement. In communications with your current teachers through this year, please do not name teacher preferences or solicit a teacher recommendation from your child’s current teacher.

Please return placement letter by Friday, April 3, 2026 in an envelope addressed to Sharon Masten, Curriculum Support Teacher. Letters must include the following information:

  • Student Name

  • Parent Name

  • Grade for 2026-2027

  • Considerations for placement

  • Student separation (if needed)
