When to Stay Home from School:
The best way to prevent the spread diseases or infections is to avoid exposure to others, especially if your child is showing symptoms of COVID-19.
Keep your child home if he shows the following symptoms:
· Fever (temperature higher than 100)
· Sore throat
· Shortness of breath from continued coughing
· Has chills or body aches
· New loss of taste or smell
· New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever
· Diarrhea, vomiting or abdominal pain
· Stomach pain that limits his/her ability to participate in his regular daily activities
· Congestion
· Behavior that is not normal for your child
· Ear Pain – lethargic, uncomfortable, discharge from ear.
· Itchy watery eyes - drainage or mucous, pain or eyelids are swollen.
At the end of the day, you know your child best. If he/she isn’t acting like themself, or it doesn’t seem like he/she could participate in school activities, trust your instincts, and keep your child at home. Often, a quick call to the pediatrician can help put your mind at ease, even if your child doesn’t need to be seen.

- No emails or early releases after 2:30 pm due to the dismissal process starting.

A Parent's Right to Know
Title I is a federally funded program meant to provide opportunities for disadvantaged
children to acquire the knowledge and skills they need to help close the
achievement gap. As a parent of a student receiving Title 1 funds, federal law allows
parents to ask for information about the certification of your child's teacher and/or paraprofessional.
Are you a dad, stepdad, granddad, uncle, or older brother? If so, we would love for you to come and volunteer as a Truitt Alpha!! It's very similar to the Watch D.O.G Program and it provides positive male role models on campus!
Your presence provides:
- School security
- Reduction in bullying
- A greater sense of safety
- Emphasis on the importance of education and attendance
