Notes from the North Park Hive
A little BUZZ from the principal
Let's Have a SPOOK-tacular Week!
This is another great but busy week at North Park!
There is NO PRESCHOOL TOMORROW.
This week is the nationwide "Say No to Drugs" week, also known as "Red Ribbon Week." We have a SIMPLE plan to celebrate and honor that decades-old tradition. While we don't get too deep into the conversation about drugs due to the age of our students, we do remind our students that we should put healthy things into our bodies so that our body/brain can work its very best! We promote GOOD, healthy choices all week long.
Thank you for the storybook pumpkins brought in. They were AMAZING!!!!!!
Our Giving Market fundraiser continues this week. Please continue to register and share, share, share with family and friends!!! As I shared on the one call last week, this fundraiser continues to help us support our Student Activities Fund. We are NOT given any type of funding for field trips or student rewards. To send just our kindergarten teams to the pumpkin patch this week is well over $3,000. However, we want our students to have experiences. We are always very mindful and diligent with how we spend any money raised, and in this case, it's to continue to be able to give our students rich experiences and memorable/meaningful rewards.
Both preschool and kindergarten will be traveling to the pumpkin patch on different days this week. Please also note that kindergarten students are walking to North Middle on Friday for trick-or-treating in their hallways. Our preschoolers enjoy a costume parade throughout our school cafeteria on Friday morning.
If we can support your family or your child in any way, please do not hesitate to contact our office (or me directly at laurabeth.hayes@hardin.kyschools.us).

North Park Reading Tree
Help add leaves to our tree!
We have a special painted tree in our cafeteria called our "Reading Tree." We add paper leaves to this tree when students read a book at home with family! We get excited to see how many leaves are added to the tree each month. Additionally, students earn a special sticker (like the kind at the doctor's office) each month. They LOVE collecting these seasonal stickers and adding their leaves to the tree. Paper copies of the leaves will go home the first full week of school. You can also print them using the file below. Send in your completed leaves and let's fill our tree for August!
Halloween Costumes
Students may wear costumes on Halloween to North Park. Please note these costumes should NOT be scary and no masks covering the face are permitted. Please do not send anything that is gory or violent. It is very helpful to make sure the costume does not interfere with your child's ability to go to the restroom.
Pumpkin Patch Trips
Preschool will be attending Thomas Dairy Farm on Wednesday, October 28th and Kindergarten will be visiting Crawford Farms on Tuesday OR Wednesday, October 27th/28th. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately with GOOD SHOES FOR WALKING.
Fire Safety
The Radcliff Fire Department will be visiting NPES classrooms at the end of the month for Fire Safety Prevention Month!
