Welcome Nurse Izzy!

Hi, my name is Isolde Maher (aka Izzy) and I’m the new Fairmount Park Elementary School nurse. I’m so excited to be working with everyone here and can’t wait to meet you! My calling to join healthcare came a little later for me than most. After a twenty-plus year career as a visual artist, I returned to school and earned my BS in Biology as well as a BSN in Nursing. Since then, I have pursued a career in women's healthcare, working as an RN at a women’s hospital both in the ER and ACU.

Although raised in Western Washington, I have only recently returned to the PNW after thirty years in New England, where my husband and I raised our three children (ages 22, 20, and 15). It has been wonderful to rediscover the magic of this place and to be nearer to my mother and sister. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, visiting my local farmer's market, reading, practicing yoga, gardening, cooking, and spending time with my family.

Fun facts: I’m a dual national (French-American). I’ve driven cross-country (Seattle to Boston) 11 times! What an amazing country we live in! My favorite fun word is “kerfuffle,” and I don’t have a favorite food because I love almost all food from all over the world.

I look forward to meeting and working with you and your kiddos! I will be on campus Tuesdays and Fridays.

Message from our School Nurse Lucie

An unfortunate part of the childhood experience is getting sick. Nurse Lucie reminds us that kids can still come to school as long as they adhere to specific guidelines. See the SPS graphic below for guidance on when to send your child to school.

Learning Learning

Salmon in Schools

Our salmon are continuing to grow under the care of Ms. Britt and Ryan Baum, our PTA President. Throughout the school day, students stop by to observe them, learn about the next stage of their development, and enjoy watching them swim. 🐟

It’s been a fun way for students to see science in action!
