A Note from Mrs. Pitts
Dear RES Families,
Last night we brought our "Internet Use Procedure" in front of the school board. This is the UPDATED procedure.
Warmly,
Michelle Pitts
IMPORTANT NOTES:
The code for the BUS APP (First View) to track the buses is TWRG!
NEW Drop Off Routine-Starts September 23
Monday, September 23:
- Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten families will enter the parking lot and turn RIGHT, dropping off at the front door. Preschool staff would unload three or four children at a time to keep traffic flowing so please pull up. Staff will direct until the routine becomes automatic.
- Students in Grades K-4 would ALL be dropped off at the BACK of the building near the new Tide Pool Playground UNLESS the older siblings can get out quickly and efficiently with their preschool sibling. This would ONLY apply to students in grades 3 and 4, as the preschool staff has much to focus on during this drop off time.
There will be plenty of staff to support families and if mistakes are made the first few days, it is OK! We will all transition together. We think this is a safer and more logistically feasible process but if you have any thoughts or questions prior to implementation, feel free to call or email!
Open House
On September 26 we will host our annual Open House. This is for STUDENTS AND FAMILIES! This is an opportunity for your child to highlight all aspects of their day at school. I receive classroom newsletters and emails so I know that a lot of information about teaching and learning is delivered home. HOWEVER, there are some other important members of our team you don't always get to meet such as our UA team, special education team, interventionists and more! All of these amazing people will showcase their spaces on this night and your child will lead you around (with help from us, if needed) so you can get a comprehensive picture of RES!
We will start at 6:00 in the gym for a short presentation in the GYM and then families will be on their own with the help of a list of potential places to visit that will be sent soon.
We hope you enjoy this time but PLEASE know that if you have questions about our curriculum or your questions about the classroom have not yet been addressed, you can reach out to your child(ren)'s teacher!

Quick Notes
-Please know that if you need to connect with a teacher, email is best! Even if you email to let us know you want to talk on the phone, it will be received more quickly.
-Many students are bringing in multiple snacks and even snacks that look like lunches. We can only guarantee that students will have time to eat one full snack so please ensure we can tell the difference between a lunch a snack. Also, snacks are often eaten while working (especially in older grades) so less messy snacks are VERY helpful!
-We are also noticing number of children ordering/eating hot lunch when it appears they have home lunch. Please talk with your child and check their account to be sure they are choosing the correct option in the morning.
-We will wait for some time before we have family members come for lunch. We are still working to set up many processes in the cafeteria and are working with a new lunch company so our focus needs to be on these two priorities until at least mid-October.

COMMUNITY NEWS
Street Sign Auction!: Own a Piece of Rye History
The Rye Historical Society is sponsoring an online auction of 32 original, vintage Rye street
signs! Each of the metal pieces once identified thoroughfares throughout the town. Some
represent a single street while others are double, indicating an intersection. These were all
replaced with newer versions many years ago. All proceeds will support the preservation and
protection of the Society’s extensive collection of books, manuscripts, images and artifacts for the benefit of future generations of Rye residents.
The auction will be open for 21 days, beginning on October 1, 2024. All street signs are being
sold as-is and all sales are final. After the auction closes on October 21, 2024, winning bidders
will be contacted by the Rye Historical Society about the timing for pick up at the Rye Town
Museum. Because of cost and weight, the Historical Society is unable to ship a street sign.
Interested? Go to https://auctria.events/Streetsigns to register and place your bids!
