Show Up Every Day: Attendance Matters!

September is Attendance Awareness Month! Did you know that strong attendance in high school is one of the biggest predictors of graduation and future success? Jags who miss more than 10 days of school each year are at a much greater risk of falling behind academically. Consistent attendance helps students:

  • stay on track with their coursework
  • build positive relationships with teachers and peers
  • develop the habits that lead to success beyond high school

Currently 27% of our students have missed more than 10% of enrolled days. Let’s work together to make every day count, because showing up is the first step toward crossing the graduation stage!

PSP: After School Academic Success Program

All students are invited to attend PSP to work on homework, make up grades, or receive additional academic assistance. We will be hosting our Pathways to Success Program (PSP) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00–5:30 p.m. this semester. Tuesdays will be for Language Arts and Social Studies support. Thursdays will be for Math and Science support.

Sessions will be held on the following dates:

  • September: 23, 25, 30

  • October: 7, 14, 16, 21, 23, 28, 30

  • November: 6, 11, 13, 18, 20

  • December: 2, 4, 9, 11, 16

2026-27 FAFSA Window Opens Oct. 1

Attention, high school seniors and senior parents/guardians! The 2026-27 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) window is scheduled to open on October 1, 2025. Completing the FAFSA form allows you to be considered for federal student aid. In addition, states and colleges use FAFSA information to award their own grants, scholarships, and loans. But, since some aid is limited, you have to meet the deadlines!

Federal Deadlines

The FAFSA form must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Central time (CT) on June 30, 2027. Any corrections or updates must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. CT on Sept. 12, 2027. Please note the 2025-26 window has already opened.

College and Career/Trade School Deadlines

Each college and career/trade school may have its own deadline. Check with the school you’re interested in attending. You may also want to ask about the school’s definition of an application deadline. For example, the deadline could be the date your FAFSA form is processed or the date the school receives your processed FAFSA data. Students in Georgia are encouraged to begin applying on Oct. 1.

Please check in with the college and career advisor at your high school or see your school counselor for more information. You can also click here for more information about FAFSA.

Final Senior Portrait Date: November 7th

The final date for senior portrait makeups will be November 7, 2025 in the CSHS Auditorium. To schedule your appointment, visit bit.ly/cedarseniornovember26

Student Parking- Towing Enforced

Every student who drives to school is required to have a valid parking pass. We understand that students may receive their driver’s license at different times throughout the year; therefore, parking passes are available for purchase year-round. Towing will begin on Monday for unauthorized vehicles.

Parking passes are $30 and may only be purchased by students who are at least 16 years old, hold a valid driver’s license, and provide proof of insurance. Please note that students are not permitted to drive to school with a learner’s permit. Students must park only in their designated parking spaces. Any vehicle on campus without a valid parking pass will be subject to towing.

To register your vehicle, you must provide a paper application that signed by a guardian, $30.00 (cash, check to Cedar Shoals High School or paid online here) a drivers license, and proof of insurance to Ms. Link in the front office. A link to the application with parking permit guidelines for the 25-26 school year can be found here or in the main office.
