Creativity with purpose

I saw this summary of an article that describes why Thrive Excelsior is so important to solving community problems. Leading autonomous teams can be tricky & often not very intuitive — you need to unlock creativity while driving focus & urgency. The way through is an engineered system of aligned autonomy. Create aligned autonomy within your teams by combining transparency, alignment to shared goals & iterative feedback, so they (community members) can make decisions confidently while staying coordinated with organizational objectives, writes startup advisor Keith Lucas. "Competent leaders of intrinsically motivated teams build systems optimized for team-based creativity, innovation & problem-solving -- systems defined by practices, principles & feedback loops," Lucas writes. a little bit more about the coming week

Hospital Board will hear reports from CEO, CNO, CFO, discuss Hospital Quality & PI Quarterly Report, Policies for Review, Foundation BOD nomination & election, Board of Trustees Strategic Planning

Planning & Zoning will consider a text amendments regarding home-based businesses in compliance with state statutes. The proposed amendment makes a distinction between “no-impact” & other home-based businesses & defines how the City may regulate each of these. No-impact home-based businesses would be permitted by right, while other types of home-based businesses will be required to obtain a Special Use Permit to operate a business at their home. The proposed amendment includes standards that ensure that neighbors’ rights are respected & the residential character of a neighborhood is preserved. Further, the proposed amendment adds a new subsection concerning farm stands. The amendment would permit farm stands by right as an accessory use in appropriate zoning districts. Further, it establishes standards to which all farm stands must adhere, in order to preserve the residential character of neighborhoods.

  • The second text amendment proposed establishes a clear reapplication process for zoning & land use requests following a denial. It distinguishes between legislative approvals, such as rezonings, & quasi-judicial approvals like special use permits. For legislative applications, a six-month waiting period is imposed before a denied request can be resubmitted, though an exception may be granted for a material change in circumstances. The amendment also reinforces that new quasi-judicial applications must be based on a material change in facts.
  • Preliminary & Final Plat presented by ES Healthcare Foundation, to divide Lot 4 of the Springs Plaza subdivision into two new lots in order to facilitate the sale of each existing building separately.

Parks & Recreation will review monthly financials, hear staff reports, consider purchase of gator & discuss budget for FY 26.

choose your attitude!

You will love Elkhorn!! It's a small little country school that has fabulous teachers & admin! Honestly Elkhorn has been the best experience for me & my kids. Not only does Elkhorn go above & beyond for their students, but they are great parental supporters too! I cannot say enough how wonderful they are! Our little rural elementary has ony gotten more amazing over the years. Great school community & amazing teachers. // We were out of town at a national speech tournament. Just received the trophy from Blue Star. Outstanding Technical Crew: Set Crew for Momma Mia! We are blessed at ES with talented & dedicated students. Read it on FB.
