TEA's Self-Reported Data Unit

TEA’s Self-Reported Data Unit (SRDU) was formed in April 2022. The purpose of SRDU is to provide support and strategy to identify potential discrepancies in self-reported data. The unit reviews, analyzes, and monitors the self-reported data and other data submitted to the agency, including data indicators used in the state accountability system.

Data that falls outside of an expected rate (such as a large increase in the number of students completing the college prep courses) could yield a compliance review.

Check out everything from "Accountability 101" to CCMR & accountability! Jennifer Gunn will be available at the October data dates for discussions about specific Advanced Academics data & next steps.

GT 6-Hour Updates

Teachers that are required to participate in an annual 6-hour GT update can earn credit through face-to-face options at Region 10 throughout the school year. This fall we have a session on the social and emotional learning of GT students, a session on how to differentiate for GT learners, and a session where teachers share how they've been serving their gifted students and can "admire and acquire" ideas from others. You can learn more and register below.

GT 6-hour update- Above and Beyond: Teaching Affective Education for Social & Emotional Learning

Affective education addresses important social and emotional areas for all types of learners, and is a process that encompasses their attitudes, beliefs, feelings, and effectiveness of both intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships. Developing these types of lesson plans will help your students self-reflect, reflect about others, develop positive school relationships, learn expressive language, explore careers, and self-regulate.

GT 6-hour update- Taking Differentiation to the Next Level: Stepping up With PBLs and Rotations

Gifted students are sometimes inadvertently overlooked. Using PBLs in the classroom is a tested and reliable instructional strategy to encourage our advanced students to utilize their creativity, improve their critical thinking and problem solving abilities, and to increase opportunities to maximize GT students' potential. In this session we'll learn the why and how to implementing PBLs in the classroom and use other differentiation strategies like stations and rotations to effectively challenge our GT students. This course is created for K-12 teachers, and will include differentiated training for various grade bands.

GT 6-hour update- Own your Own Learning: GT Idea Exchange

Own your own learning and exchange ideas centered on engaging and challenging the gifted learner as you spend time sharing and learning from others in this highly collaborative, participant-driven session. Engage with other educators to problem solve and provide feedback on ideas for the upcoming year through structured conversation protocols and solution circle roundtable discussions. Expect to leave with crowdsourced ideas to apply to your classroom this year as we utilize the experience and expertise of the group to share ideas and learn from one another.

GT 6-hour asynchronous update- Creative Confidence: A 6-hour GT Book Study

Anyone can be creative. That's the message Creative Confidence drives home by showing that creativity is an innate ability that requires courage to uncover. It's not so much a case of learning how to be creative, but rather learning how to release creativity by overcoming fears and doubts, something that all GT students - and their teachers - can benefit from in life.
