Teacher Appreciation Week in Coming Up, Let’s Show the Love!

These small gestures go a long way in recognizing the hard work, care, and energy they bring to our students every single day. If you’re able, please consider contributing to help us make this week feel truly special for them!
Last Call for Yearbook Photos (and Free Shipping)
As the Yearbook Club completes the final pages of this year’s book— the printing deadline is this tomorrow night, Monday, April 20—we need your help to make sure all memories are included. We are still missing a few important photos and would greatly appreciate your contributions before Monday.
Photos Needed
- Track and Field: Please take group photos before tryouts begin this weekend, as well as candid and action shots.
- Ultimate Frisbee: Check your phone for photos from the first game. We have a few action shots already, but if there is a team shot too, that would be swell.
- Golf: Photos from tryouts are requested.
- Woodshop: We are looking for photos of students and their projects, or just the projects themselves. Or kids with tools.
- Boys Varsity Volleyball: Action shots.
All photos should be in JPG format and 300 dpi (high/print resolution). Usable photos will be at least 500kb in size; larger files are preferred. Email photos to monterayearbookclub@gmail.com.
Also, it is not too late to order a yearbook. Place your order by April 21 to ensure your book is shipped to the school with the others in May. Orders placed after this date may be shipped directly to you for a fee.
If you have not previously placed an order or are new to the school, you will be prompted to create a login and enter your student(s) information. Please select the N/A option (Not Listed/Applicable) from the teacher dropdown menu. If you are asked for a school code, use the passcode: 1014897661773030.
PTO Meeting Recap
Thank you to everyone who joined us at last Thursday’s PTO meeting, we loved seeing you there! You can find the meeting slides here.
Our final PTO meeting of the year will be in person on May 14 from 6:30–7:45pm in the Montera MUR, and we hope you can join us. During the first ~20 minutes, we will review and vote on the 2026–27 board slate and budget. Then we will celebrate with a PTO appreciation party hosted by the Montera administration, a great chance to connect and wrap up the year together. Hope to see you there!
We still need to fill open roles for the 2026-27 school year…and yes, we’re looking at YOU!
Take a peek at the open spots and sign up or *lovingly* nominate a friend HERE! If you see a position that’s already filled but you’re still interested, go ahead and sign up! Many roles can be co-chaired or shadowed.
Questions? Email president@monterapto.com, reaching out doesn’t commit you to anything!

Attendance Reminders
California funds schools through Average Daily Attendance (ADA). This means that every day or period a student is absent or tardy, our school loses funding. Unexcused absences cost our school thousands of dollars each school year. Every minute counts!
Reminders:
AVOID picking up students during lunch - loud speaker announcements during lunch disrupt classes in session.
AVOID picking up students 20-30 minutes before the dismissal bell. This allows students to finish their school day without disruption.
Dismissal is at 1:50 pm on Wednesdays and 3:30 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Remember, school starts at 9:15! Please help your student arrive on time each day and reinforce the importance of showing up to 3rd & 7th period after lunch!
Any absence not verified by phone or email is marked “Unverified” and is considered unexcused.
If you know that your student is going to be absent, please call the main office at 510-879-3211 x1.
If your family is experiencing challenges with daily attendance, we are here to support you. Contact your grade-level principal or Ms. Ida at the number above for assistance.
