December 2025 NRESC Updates from Dr. Vancheri
Happy Holidays from the Vancheri Family!
As we recap December and look forward to 2026, I would like to wish you and your family a safe, happy, and restful holiday season! Here's to a great 2025 and an even better 2026! Thank you for all that you do for the NRESC! It is our privilege to serve!
Once again, I present December's happenings to you via "The 12 Days of NRESC Cheer."
Happy Holidays & Happy New Year!
Dr. Nicholas V. Vancheri
NRESC Superintendent of Schools
Day 12: Deck the Halls at the NRESC Holiday Party
We had a great time at the NRESC holiday party @ the Park Wayne Diner in Wayne! NRESC staff from all over the region came together to eat, mingle, & win prizes! We were also honored to have our former superintendent, Diana Lobosco, stop by and provide some words of wisdom!
Day 11: Second Home for the Holidays
Festive sweaters + great company = Second Home magic!
Day 10: Snow Much Creativity at Phoenix
Holiday snow painting at the Phoenix Center!
Day 9: Pearl Spreads Holiday Paws-itivity
Pearl had a busy month visiting our childcare centers, Second Home, JP Holland Charter School, and more! Book your first visit today!
Day 8: From Little Hands to Holiday Trees at Lenox
Oh Christmas Tree... Oh Christmas Tree! The students at Lenox Ave. Learning Center had a great time making Christmas trees out of ice cream cones.
Day 7: The Season of Growth-Welcoming Student Athlete Academy
The NRESC was proud to welcome Student Athlete Academy to our family this month! We look forward to providing support services to this school for the foreseeable future.
Day 6: The Wheels on the Bus Bring Holiday Cheer
Holiday spotlight on the NRESC transportation department! With a strong staff and a budget bigger than some school districts in the region, our transportation department is always ready to work and enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate when the opportunity presents itself.
Day 5: Crafting Christmas Cheer at Ramapo Avenue
Making Christmas decorations at the Ramapo Avenue Learning Center reminded us that the best holiday magic comes from tiny hands and big imaginations.
Day 4: Phoenix Staff Lighting Up the Holidays
Holiday spotlight on our amazing staff at the Phoenix Center! Their dedication to providing educational services to the long-term residents of this rehabilitation center means a lot to the community, especially during the holidays.
Day 3: A Holly Jolly Visit at Second Home
December 10 was a great night at Second Home’s tri-town holiday parade! Thank you to the local fire departments, Totowa Mayor John Coiro, Santa and his friends, vendors, NRESC staff, and families for making this celebration special!
Day 2: Debbie Terwilliger’s Grand Send-Off Into Retirement!
Although we are sad to see Debbie Terwilliger, Teacher at the Phoenix Center, retire on December 19, we wish her all the best in this next chapter. Debbie has had a long and impactful career—most notably as a special education teacher in Paterson Public Schools—before joining the Commission at Preakness Academy, Second Home, and most recently, the Phoenix Center. Cheers to a remarkable career dedicated to service and making a difference!
Day 1: A December to Remember for the Education Foundation
It was truly a December to remember for the NRESC Education Foundation! Thanks to all who supported our fundraisers, we raised over $2,400 to benefit our programs. If you haven’t had a chance to participate in this outreach—or in previous events like the Gala and Golf Outing—don’t worry! As the Foundation continues to grow, more opportunities to contribute and make a difference will arise. Together, as a team, every effort helps advance our shared mission and support programs that truly matter.
