BRHS Teacher of the Year
We are excited to celebrate the BRHS Teacher of the Year for 2023-2024, Ms. Eva Morales. Ms. Morales is in her second year at BRHS and she makes an impact on a daily basis. She works tirelessly to give her students relevant, meaningful experiences in Spanish and is an important part of our campus leadership team. More importantly, Ms. Morales builds strong relationships with students and cares for them in a way that helps them find success. We couldn't be more proud of Eva and the hard work and dedication that she devotes to BRHS.
BRISD Support Staff Member of the Year
BRHS is also home to the District Support Staff Member of the Year, Stacy Sikes. Mrs. Sikes is our campus registrar and secretary and she is fantastic at her job. She is kind to everyone, she is always willing to help, and she is the backbone of our campus. There isn't much that happens at BRHS that doesn't run through Mrs. Sikes. We are so thankful for her and she is very deserving of this honor.

Tigers Athletic Success
As we wrap up the spring semester, we would like to highlight some of the success that our athletes have found on the field, the track, and the court.
First, Cash Goodman is once again headed to the State Track Meet in the 110m hurdles. He placed 2nd in the region and he now owns all BRHS records in the hurdles. He also competed this year at regionals in the 300m hurdles and did well.
The Lady Tigers softball team secured the district championship this week for the first time in a decade. They head to the playoffs (for the first time as a 3A program) with a record of 22-3 and a lot of momentum.
Tigers Tennis has again had a successful season. Andrea Carter and Kaden Jenkins are the district champs in mixed doubles and will compete in the regional meet. Evelyn Stewart and Rylan Smith placed 3rd in the district in doubles.
Lady Tigers Track also had a good showing at the area and regional meets. The 4x100m and 4x200m relays both earned spots in the regional finals finishing 4th and 5th place, respectively, in the fastest region in Texas.
Finally, the Tigers baseball team is also headed to the playoffs after they defeated Bells this week to earn their spot.
Capturing Kids' Hearts March Focus: Integrity
As you probably know, BRISD is a Capturing Kids' Hearts (CKH) school district. As a part of our efforts to help our students learn about and exhibit certain character traits, we will be focusing on a specific trait each month. We will also be sharing a newsletter with you so that you will know what your student is learning about.
This month, we are challenging students to choose to do the right thing, no matter who is watching. We each aim to live with the ability and willingness to exist with honesty and excellence. We want to partner with you to highlight your child’s integrity. As you do this month’s activities, look for opportunities to celebrate your child’s integrity and character growth.

Benefits of Good Hygiene
Personal Hygiene refers to things we do to stay clean and take care of our body. Did you know that having good personal hygiene helps protect against illness, boosts self-confidence, improves academic performance and helps develop a good work ethic. So, what can we do to maintain good personal hygiene:
- Regular hand washing
- Practice good oral hygiene- Brush twice daily and floss
- Poor oral hygiene can lead to cardiovascular/heart issues
- Shower regularly
- Wear clean clothes every day
- Apply deodorant
Not only do we need to keep our bodies clean, we need to keep our space clean. A chaotic and/or messy space leads to less productivity due to reduced focus and increased anxiety and depression. There is a strong link between hygiene and mental health. Maintaining mental hygiene is just as important as personal hygiene.
- Satisfy basic needs: Adequate sleeping and eating.
- Have emotional intelligence- identify and interpret emotions, regulate their intensity in order to respond appropriately
- Set achievable goals
- Learn to relax, be mindful
- Be social/have a support system
- Exercise- helps with our physical body as well as aids in clearing the mind
When our mental health declines often our personal hygiene can decline as well. The same thing can be said for poor personal hygiene as it can set you up for feelings of loneliness from social isolation leading to depression and anxiety. Take care of your body and mind daily. Set reminders or a reward system and make them a daily habit.
