Week of Sept. 23 - Sept. 27, 2024
Hispanic Heritage Month is from September 15th to October 15th. The bulletin board above is decorated by the World Languages Department. It is located in the modulars wing of the building.
Important Dates
- Wednesday, October 9th - Parent/Guardian & Teacher Conferences
- Thursday, October 10th - Picture Day
- Friday, October 18th - Fall Ball Dance
- Thursday, October 24th - Early Release Thursday (11:32am dismissal)
Parent/Guardian-Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher Conferences are on Wednesday, October 9th. There will be an afternoon (2:30-3:15pm) and evening session (6:30-8:00pm). An email will be shared on Monday, September 30th with details, including how to sign up for a conference with a teacher.
Parents/guardians can begin signing up for a timeslot on Monday, September 30th at 4pm. Sign-ups will close on Sunday, October 6th at 11:30pm. We recommend parents/guardians sign up early as timeslots are limited.
To help prepare for conferences, parents/guardians should look at the PowerSchool Portal to view their child's Trimester 1 classes, teachers, and grades. Based on what you see, you can decide which teacher(s) you would like to meet with for a conference.
Please note:
- If students are scheduled into a class for Trimester 2 or 3, they have not had these classes yet.
- Lab Supports and DEAR classes are different types of study halls so a conference is not needed with these teachers.
Important Message from the School Nurse
Parents and guardians, please review with your children the importance of not eating other people's food. Your child should never bring food to school for a group of kids. They should only bring food for themselves.
Why should students not share food in school?
- Many kids have known life threatening food allergies so if your child brings a snack from home and everyone but one child can eat it, there is unnecessary pressure on the children with allergies.
- There are many kids that have yet to be diagnosed but have a life threatening allergy, called an unknown allergy.
- Life threatening food allergies can occur at any age and we need the support of parents and guardians to keep the students safe at school.
Celebrating OMG Moments
This school year, we are recognizing students who make a positive impact in our school community with OMG (Oh My Goodness) Moments. OMS staff share OMG moments with administration to highlight special, positive moments that occur in our school community. If administration receives a positive shout-out about our OMS students from community members, we recognize them with an OMG Moment.
When we receive an OMG Moment, an administrator meets with the student to recognize them for their positive impact. We also share a positive phone call home to share the good news and they get a special shout-out in the OMS Community Newsletter. (Students can choose whether they want to join for the phone call home and whether or not they would like to take a picture.)
This week, there were four students recognized for OMG moments: Nicholas Pimentel, Dylan Jenkins, Madison Kelly, and Emily Jardin.
Nicholas Pimentel (Grade 8) was recognized for an OMG moment for his outstanding participation during his Knight Time Advisory on Early Thursday. Mrs. Boyrazian (KT advisor) shared, "He was actively answering questions and discussing the questions...he was a model student this day!" Principal Crowley met with Nicholas and congratulated him for his awesome class participation!

Emily Jardin

Dylan, Madison, and Emily were recognized for an OMG Moment for taking the initiative to help at the Snack Shack during the SHS home football game on September 13th. These middle school students saw the long line at the Snack Shack and offered to help. A SHS parent shared, "The stands and grounds were filled with people and the lines never ended all night at the snack shack. They took orders, assembled food, handled cash, added up the orders, figured out change....I was so impressed and proud of them, as were all the other parents who worked with them."
They are pictured above with Principal Crowley for their OMG Moment. Dylan and Emily are seen at Mrs. Crowley's desk after calling home to share the news. Madison is pictured in the main office after receiving her positive recognition.
Awesome job to Nicholas, Dylan, Madison, and Emily!
Stoughton Marching Black Knights

Last Saturday, Stoughton Marching Black Knights had their first competition in Bellingham, MA. They placed first in their division with a score of 77.8 and were the winner of all captions. The theme of their performance is Falling Waters. Ironically, it rained all day.
Congratulations Marching Black Knights!!
