Extracurricular Activities and Attendance Extracurricular Activities and Attendance

As a reminder if students plan on attending extracurricular activities such as drama, music, intramurals, interscholastic sports, clubs or school events such as dances their attendance is required at school. Please review the policy below from our ADL Family Handbook.

In accordance with EWSD policy C7 (Student Attendance) and Vermont law (Title 16 VSA 1126 & 1127) regular school attendance by students is required. Parents and guardians of students enrolled in school (age six and up) are needed by law to make sure of their children's attendance at school. Regular attendance is necessary to promise engagement and progress. If your child will not be in attendance, please call the school at 878-1388 or fill out the online form to let us know they won’t be there before the start of the school day and state the reason for them not being present.

To receive credit for a day of attendance, a student must meet the state requirement of at least one-half day in school.

Students who are absent all day or leave school early and do not return to school are not eligible to attend/participate in after school or evening activities.

Winter Sports Winter Sports

Please note that your child requires a physical examination at a minimum of every two years in order to participate in interscholastic athletics. A completed Sports Participation Clearance Form needs to be on file by 11/10 in order for athletes to be eligible for tryouts for any of the winter sports offerings. The completed form (which is linked below) can be emailed to Nurse Jenna jdallamura@ewsd.org or can be faxed to her (802) 215-4115 or a paper copy hand delivered at school.

If your student has an early dismissal, please let the office know in the morning. Early dismissal passes are handed out at lunch time. If the dismissal is before lunch, staff will get the pass to your child in the morning.

If your student has a phone, we suggest they check it in the front office to help with a smoother check out and eliminate disruptions to classrooms for early dismissals.

Letting the office know of dismissals can be called in, submitted online through the ADL website, or emailed to: adloffice@ewsd.org
