Principal's Message
Dear Landing Trail Families,
Welcome to a new school year! We’re excited to reconnect with returning families and warmly welcome those who are new to our community. As we begin the 2025–2026 school year, we remain grounded in our belief that school is more than just a place to learn, it’s a place where we grow together.
Our theme this year is #webelong, a reminder that when students, staff, and families work in partnership, we create a school where everyone feels valued, supported, and included.
To kick off this initiative, please check out the events coming up for our Gibbons Community:
- Friday, September 5th - School Spirit Day (Wear your school shirt or colours.)
- Friday, September 19th - Croc & Crazy Sock Day (Wear either or both!)
- Monday, September 29th - Orange Shirt Day
This year, our work as a school community is guided by three key focus areas:
Empowered Student and Staff Learning
We are committed to helping every student grow in literacy and numeracy through engaging instruction, small-group learning like Guided Math and Daily 5, and targeted support. We use Division-wide screeners and MathUP to guide planning and measure growth. STEAM and PLACE provide hands-on, cross-curricular opportunities that extend and deepen learning.
Healthy School Communities
We build a caring, respectful school where every student belongs. Through SPARK skills, daily social-emotional learning, and restorative practices, students learn self-regulation, empathy, and leadership. Land-based and cultural learning enrich our school, and strong partnerships with parents help every child thrive.
Future Readiness
Students develop leadership, creativity, and real-world skills through PLACE, STEAM, TRAIL, and other community-connected projects. These experiences prepare students to adapt, innovate, and contribute in a changing world.
At Landing Trail, belonging isn’t just something we feel, it’s something we build together. Thank you for being part of this shared journey.
Let’s make this a year of growth, connection, and community.
With gratitude,
Louise Loh, Principal

Dear Landing Trail Families,
As we prepare for the new 2025/2026 school year, we want to communicate important information about how we will begin the year. All Sturgeon Public Schools students will have a staggered start to the school year to reduce student anxiety and improve communication of student conduct and school expectations.
The staggered start days will be August 28 and August 29.
For Landing Trail students, all students from Grades 1 to 4 will have staggered entry times, according to last names, as follows:
August 28, 2025
August 29, 2025
(Gr. 1-4) Last names starting A-K
(Gr. 1-4) Last names starting L-Z
Pre-Kindergarten students will receive a phone call at the end of June.
Kindergarten students will receive a letter before the start of classes.
*Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten students: Please follow your designated start dates.
We aim to provide a smooth transition for students and families, and staggered start dates will help us achieve this goal.
I have attached further information about arrival for both staggered days, transportation, assembly, supplies, and classroom assignments.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the front office.
Finer Details
Transportation
Buses will run their regular routes and schedules.
Transportation will communicate with drivers on which days students will attend each day.
On both staggered days, buses will be practicing routes and timing, so you may see buses stopping at stops with no students.
Arrival
All families are asked to use the main entrance on both staggered days.
Upon arrival, families should meet in the gym, where homeroom teachers will meet students to take them to their classrooms.
Staff will be available in the gym all day to help families and students find their classrooms.
We welcome families to join us in the gym for refreshments and to meet teachers.
Classroom Assignments
Grades 1-4 classroom assignments were shared with families via Powerschool on June 30th @ 4:00 pm.
(August 2025) Classroom assignment concerns will be addressed after September 8th (Pending enrollment numbers),
Assembly
We will hold an assembly at 2:15 p.m. at the end of each staggered start day so that all students and their families can meet Landing Trail School staff.
Supplies
AttendanceStudents will attend the whole day.
Students should bring their supplies, snacks, lunch and a water bottle.
Regular classes for ECS to grade 4 will begin on Tuesday, September 2nd.
