Let's Honor Our Veterans!

Veterans Day is coming up, and we want to celebrate the heroes in our own families! We are creating our annual Veterans Day Slideshow and invite you to share a photo and information about a veteran in your immediate family—a mother, father, brother, sister, step-parent, or step-sibling. This is a wonderful way to honor their service and sacrifice. It will be featured on our own HTHS TV Announcements as well as our Newsletter. Just click the link below to submit their details and a picture. Please be sure to do so by October 24, 2025. We can't wait to see your submissions and honor our local heroes.

This breakfast is our way of expressing gratitude and respect for the service and sacrifice of our military families. We look forward to gathering with you to honor your commitment to our country.

We are so proud of our military-connected students and their families, and we can't wait to share this special morning with you.

Hailey Leslie, Senior

Hailey Leslie, a senior in Hewitt Trussville High School’s Life Skills Class, had the opportunity to visit the RISE To The Top Program at Southern Miss earlier this week.

The RISE To The Top Program is an inclusive non-degree certificate program for students with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. This program gives students an inclusive college experience by supporting their journey through academics, community engagement, full participation in student life, and getting them employment ready!

Hailey also had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Odom’s (a HTHS alum) senior Life Skills/Transition Studies class all about her summer employment, what services she has received, and what has worked for her. She did a Q&A with Dr. Odom’s students, and they all came away with things that they can try to implement when they become teachers after their May graduation.

We are very proud of every one of our students at HTHS, and are overjoyed by the option of postsecondary education choices offered for our Life Skills students.

Culinary Club and Ex. Ed. Enterprise

A huge shout out to students of the Culinary Club and the Ex. Ed. Enterprise (an extension of the Life Skills Academy) for their collaborative efforts in utilizing grant funds to create Mush Mugs, an expansion of the culinary clubs coffee cart. Specifically to Katherine McNeal, Alex Peters, and Ethan Tyler for their creative design efforts for our logo and marketing mascot. We also appreciate the work of the Electrical Academy for their expertise in putting together our coffee cart.
