Dear 2024-25 Kindergarten Families!

If you are a new family, I'd like to be the first to offer an official welcome to the Archer Glen community. If you are a returning family with a newly enrolled younger sibling, we are very happy to continue partnering with you to give your child the best educational experiences we can.

This special edition newsletter is to provide our new and returning families with the information you need to successfully start the school year with your soon-to-be Kindergarten student. August 27 - Kindergarten Orientation

• Incoming K students and their families attend for a 2-hour block of time

August 28 - 29 - Kindergarten Ramp Up

• All Kindergarten students attend both days
• Students may work with different teachers and groups of students

August 30 - No school for Kindergarten students

• No school for Kindergarten students while teachers make placement decisions
• Class lists are sent out by 3:30 pm

September 3 - 4 - Family Conversations

• Families with their student come in for a 20 minute conversation with their assigned teacher

September 5 - Regular school schedule w/ assigned teacher

Registration for our incoming Kindergarten class is available online using the link below. Incoming Kindergarten students must turn 5 prior to September 1. Registering early helps the school and district start planning for the fall.

Online Kindergarten Registration

During online registration, new families will create a Sherwood ParentVUE account. Parents of current and former Sherwood students will log in with their existing ParentVUE account. Please call the Archer Glen front office at 503-825-5100 or email Judy Morales at jmorales@sherwood.k12.or.us if you have any questions.

Paper Registration

Families are also welcome to register using paper registration. Paper registration packets can be picked up from the Archer Glen front office.

This summer, incoming Kindergarten families will have more opportunities to meet staff and other families at Kinder Playdates. Kinder Playdates are 1-hour play times on the Archer Glen playground. They include arts and crafts and an introduction to the Kindergarten teachers and school principal. No registration required. This summer's playdates will be held on Tuesday, July 16th from 4 to 5 pm and Tuesday, August 13th from 9 to 10 am.

The Sherwood School District has a Spanish/English Dual Language Immersion Program at Hawks View Elementary. This program is available to students in any of the four elementary boundary areas. See the following page to learn more about the program and the steps to apply for enrollment: Dual Language Immersion.

If you’re enrolling your student or looking to move to Sherwood, you may locate the schools for a home address using our online Boundary Map. Enter your address in the upper left corner to search. Contact Kami Golden at kgolden@sherwood.k12.or.us or 503-825-5011 with boundary questions.

The school day begins at 7:55 a.m. with doors opening at 7:45 for general arrival. Students eating breakfast at school may arrive as early as 7:30 a.m. The school day ends at 2:15 p.m., with the exception of Wednesday when school dismisses at 1:15.

Sherwood School District calendars are now available for the 24-25 and 25-26 school years.
