DMS Delivers
May 16, 2025
Dear DMS Families,
This week we officially completed Math MCAS. Over the next week, we will work with students to complete any make- up exams that were missed due to absence, and Grade 8 will conclude testing with their Civics exam next Tuesday and Wednesday. This will officially conclude testing at DMS. Thank you all for your support over the last few months as we have navigated testing at DMS. As we put it behind us, we look forward to what is coming for our end of year activities.
Over the next five weeks, grade level team leaders will be sending out details regarding the end of the year. If you are the parent/guardian of an 8th grade student, please be on the lookout for information on end of year events, as an email will be coming from Mrs. Rose in the next week. As a reminder, there is also information on our PTO Color Run below.
Below you also will find information on DMS baseball/softball home games, the DR SEPAC Board Elections, the Slater Park Carousel, the Scholastic BOGO Book Fair, and a DRRHS Coffee Hour, as well details on a newly arising Tik Tok Challenge for you to be aware. You will also find information on the DR Summer Experience and other fliers from the community.
Have a great week! Please also find our May Wellness Newsletter.

Softball/Baseball Games- Student Spectators
As we continue into our softball and baseball season, we want to remind families that DMS students are more than welcome to return to DMS to watch their friends play baseball/softball. However, they should take their regularly scheduled transportation home and return for the game if they would like to watch. We are finding that not many students staying for the game are actually watching it. Games do not begin until 3:15/3:30 p.m., and school staff is not always after school to monitor students between the end of the day and the game. With that, it is important to note that school staff is also not always in attendance at softball/baseball games, so it is recommended that students come to the game with an adult.
IMPORTANT- TIK TOK CHROMEBOOK CHALLENGE
We want to alert families about a dangerous social media trend known as the “TikTok Chromebook Challenge,” where students are encouraged to insert metal objects—such as paperclips, coins, or staples—into their school-issued Chromebooks. This behavior can cause electrical fires, serious injuries, and permanent device damage. It violates our technology use policy and will not be tolerated. Families will be held financially responsible for intentional damage, and students involved will face disciplinary action. Please talk to your child about the dangers of this trend and remind them that school technology is for learning, not experimentation. To learn more, watch this brief news video: Dangerous TikTok Trend on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpRx7dcDqTQ).

Reminder to Families
Dear DR Families,
As you may know, Massachusetts now provides free breakfast and lunch for all students across the Commonwealth!
We are encouraging families who may have qualified for the National Free & Reduced School Lunch Program in the past to complete the online application. This helps determine eligibility and ensures that we can continue to offer reduced or waived fees for various programs and activities. When completing the application, please remember to include consent for sharing your status with relevant departments and programs.
Without this qualification and your consent, we will be unable to provide reduced or waived fees.
Thank you for your cooperation!
Technology Repair Fees
Dear Families,
We hope this message finds you well. As part of our commitment to maintaining our technology resources, we wanted to inform you about our updated repair fee structure. This will go into effect on October 28, 2024. These fees help us cover the cost of repairs when school-issued devices are damaged due to misuse or carelessness. The fees are divided into three tiers, depending on the extent of the damage:
- Level 1: Charger, Cover (top or bottom), Touchpad, etc- $40
- Level 2: Keyboard, Monitor- $75
- Level 3: Total Loss/Replacement- $300
We encourage students to handle their devices with care to avoid any damage and the associated costs. If a device does require repair, the appropriate fee will be communicated to you along with the steps to resolve the issue.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support in keeping our technology in great condition!
In addition, if your child needs Chromebook repairs, you will receive an email directly from mySchoolBucks regarding payment.
