Fisher Family Update
September 13, 2020
Dear Fisher Families,
We are very excited to see all our students tomorrow morning! The teachers, custodians and support staff have all worked together to prepare for an opening like no other. We will continue to collaborate with each other and our families to provide a safe, meaningful and engaging educational experience for all. This school year will have its challenges but together we will make the 2022-2021 school year a great one! As always, please contact your child’s teacher, the office staff or me if you have any questions. Also, please be sure to sign up for the principal’s weekly updates by clicking THIS link.
Thank you,

HYBRID SCHEDULE
Learning Program Changes
All students have been fully scheduled for the hybrid and full remote learning option.
At this time, we will not be switching any students between models. We will consider switching students at the conclusion of the first semester. Consideration will be given on a case by case basis. Please contact Mr. Bemiss if you have any questions.
A message from our school nurse, Ms. Lindsey Moyes
Dear Fisher Parent/Guardian,
If your child has medication (Epinephrine, Albuterol Inhalers, Antihistamines, daily medications to be distributed at school, etc), please plan on dropping off your medication at school. Medications are not allowed to be sent in a child's backpack and must be dropped off prior to the first day of school. I will be sitting outside the front entrance of the school receiving medications and forms. Please do not plan on entering the building and remember to wear a mask.
- Please make sure you have updated medication orders (ie Allergy Action Plan, Anaphylaxis Action Plan, Asthma Action Plan) for this school year (dated after 6/30/20) signed by the parent/guardian as well as the prescribing physician.
- All medication needs to be in the original prescription labeled box.
- As a reminder, all inhalers will require a spacer this year per the state guidelines.
Medication can be dropped off for your student to Fisher School on the following dates:
Tuesday, September 8th: 8:30 am - 9:30 am
Thursday, September 10th: 8:30 am - 9:30 am
As always, please reach out if you have any questions or concerns, I can be reached via email at LMoyes@walpole.k12.ma.us
Looking forward to a safe and healthy school year!
Thank you very much!

Face Coverings
Students wearing face coverings:
The updated DESE guidance states that “Even if students are spaced six feet apart in classrooms, the use of masks is still required unless students are eating lunch or taking a mask break”. The Walpole Public Schools requires students to wear masks in all grades, PK-12, unless they have a medical or behavioral diagnosis that impacts their ability to wear a mask. In those rare cases a face shield is suggested.
Mask usage at all times will be required by all people in the building except for breakfast, lunch, snack, and scheduled mask breaks.
Masks should:
Be made with at least two layers of breathable material
Fully cover the nose and mouth and secure under the chin
Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
Be secured with ties or ear loops and allow the student to remain hands free
At this time, based on guidance from health authorities, open-chin triangle bandanas, and face coverings containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind are not acceptable face coverings
Further information from the CDC can be found here

A Message From Food Services - Online Ordering
Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,
We are pleased to announce our meal program platform for this school year. Our plan is to provide hot meals for students who are learning in school and shelf stable meals (items that can be heated at home) for students learning remotely. In addition, our plan is to provide an opportunity for meal pick up at the high school on Wednesday’s between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. At this time, we will provide students with food for up to five additional breakfast and lunches for remote learning days and weekends.
Our initial roll out of our meals program will require you to electronically pre-order meals a week in advance. The on-line ordering system has been updated and we feel is easy to use. Please click here for Online Ordering Note: The first week of school meal orders will need to be entered by Sunday September 6th no later than 10 p.m.
Attached you will find a step by step guide that will assist you in setting up your children’s accounts that will allow you to place meal orders. It should be noted and stressed that this account set up is necessary for on-line ordering. You will be receiving an email from Walpole School Nutrition, providing your children’s school ID which is required for logging into your account.
To get started, click to open the attached Parent Release Notes document.
We realize that our initial menu options are limited, however, we feel this is necessary to ensure our ability to meet production and delivery needs. Once we have a better perspective on how many meals will need to be produced and locations we will be delivering to, we will be better able to expand our menu choices. All meals will be individually packed and labeled with your child’s name.
Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns or have difficulty setting up your on-line meal accounts.
Sincerely,
Maria Hall
