Hi Powers Families...

We want to thank everyone that has helped make this an amazing year at Powers. We have three days left in this school year. Please review the notes for details about the last day and the Field Day events. Please have patience and look for adults that will be directing traffic for these events.

We will send out one more newsletter in the middle of June with details about the 25-26 school year and then will update that newsletter in early August with any new information.

Have a great week.

Parking

Field Day Volunteer that are working stations that have already been selected and notified by the PTO can park in the Main (South) parking lot by the school office. Enter off of South Lake and park in the designated spaces. If all of the spaces are filled, volunteers will be directed towards the auxiliary parking in front of the board office and AJH.

For Kindergarten ONLY... Parents volunteering to work the stations can follow the directions above. Those coming to observe and follow your child around... please park in the PikMyKid lot on the North side of the school by the playground. Please park in lanes 4-8 ONLY facing North. We will fill as many lanes as we need and if filled we will utilize the parking along the soccer field. Please don't park in the first 3 lanes as we are saving these for AJH dismissal.

We are asking staff to park on the north Soccer Lot near Milan Avenue to make as much space for visitors as possible. Carpooling is highly encouraged.

Additional Details

Most teachers have kept Field Day shirts at school so that they didn't get lost. All children should plan to wear the Field Day shirt purchased by the PTO to help monitor students as they rotate through the stations.

Please note that station volunteers will be working at specific stations to support all students with the field day events and won’t be rotating with their child. Kindergarten is the only grade level that has both an option to volunteer and if interested, a chance to come and join your child’s class and observe your child at each rotation. We encourage parents to take advantage of this one-time experience. Please communicate with your child’s classroom teacher if you are coming to observe. You don’t need to check in at the office. Please follow parking directions above.

Volunteer check-in booth will be in the South Parking lot and will guide you to your assigned station. You do not need to check in at the office.

Bring a water bottle. There will be stations to refill throughout therotations. Please also have students wear tennis shoes. We don't want anyone tripping over flip flops and turning a fun event into a sad one.

No Pictures - There are students that are not allowed to have pictures taken of them here at school so we cannot have people taking group pictures or action photos that could include students that are not your own during Field Day. If you want a picture with your child, take a selfie or ask any staff member as we would be happy to take a shot of you and your child. Thanks for your understanding.

Checking kids out… if you come to field day as a 1st through 3rd grade volunteer, please use the normal checkout process. The last station of the event is a thank you to you all so come join us and then head to the office to sign your child out if you want. The teachers will bring the children back to the classroom and have them gather their belongings and you can just go to the office and meet them there.

For kindergarten observers and volunteers, please go to your child’s class at the end of the day if you want to take them home with you. The classroom teachers will have their own checkout system to sign out your kindergartener. If you are wanting to have a sibling from Powers also get excused, we really need you to send a note with your child in the morning so that we can coordinate to have them meet you at your kindergartener’s classroom. We anticipate a large volume of requests and want to keep our office staff from a flood of requests at the last minute. We appreciate your support and are looking forward to a great day.

I know that all of this sounds like a lot of details to follow so ask if you have questions. With over a thousand students at our school and a joined campus with the junior high school we have to coordinate a lot of logistics to host events. We appreciate your time and support. .

School Fees School Fees

School Supply Fees

Thank you to everyone that has helped pay off fees as the end of the year has approached. Remember that fees roll over and we don't want them to build up. We are proud to offer school fees that are below almost every district around us.

Lunch Fees

Children with fees exceeding $10 will receive an alternate lunch in the last 3 days to avoid unpaid lunch fees accruing. Please make sure your child's lunch account has money in it if they plan to get a school lunch.

25/26 SCHOOL SUPPLIES OFFER

We are offering a convenience option for all of our K-3 families this year to get your school supplies for the 25/26 school year. This is not a sales pitch. If you would prefer to go to the store and buy your own supplies for your child, you are welcome to do so and bring them to school in August at Open House. However, if you are interested, you can order your child's school supplies from EPI using the code POW012 and those same supplies will come to the school and be packaged and waiting for your child in August when you show up for Open House. Our teachers have reviewed the supplies to make sure they match the list provided for the school year for each grade level. I am also including the school fees and supply lists for the 25-26 school year so that you can decide for yourself. Please make the decision that is right for your family. The deadline for the $60 price is June 1st. From June 1st to June 22nd the same supplies will cost $65. After that, orders will include shipping costs to mail them directly to your home.
