Log College Celebrates Black History Month
First, a thank you to everyone who donated supplies for the annual MLK Sock Roll. This was the largest collection we've had since participating in this project. (More information later in this newsletter).
Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by black Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in U.S. history. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month.
Log College students will participate in the following activities that celebrate the lives and culture of African Americans past and present.
Students will create a mural displaying the achievements of 5 African Americans who set precedents in their respected fields.
Students will identify famous African Americans and create bio-banners recognizing the positive contributions towards society
Students will analyze several samples of African American culture and reflect how it impacts society today.
Students will identify contributions of African Americans through our daily morning announcements.
American History classes will continue to discuss how slavery has shaped our society.
Additional Photos
On February 4, photographers will be on hand to take a large, panoramic 8th grade class photo of all students. If you'd like to order it, check out the information below.

NJHS Sock Roll Challenge 2026
Log College participated in the annual Martin Luther King Sock Roll Challenge for the 6th year in a row. This challenge is sponsored by The Giving Tree, whose mission is to “teach children about charity”. With our help, the organization was able to collect roughly 25,000 sock rolls for those in need. These sock rolls will be distributed to local shelters and hospitals.
The National Junior Honor Society organized the event by collecting items like mens crew socks, packs of crackers and granola bars in all Social Studies Classrooms. Thanks to the generous donations from faculty, staff and students, NJHS was able to roll and donate over 500 sock rolls! That’s over 200 more than we have ever done!
Excess socks will be stored with materials for next year. Thank you to everybody who participated in the 2026 Martin Luther King Day Sock Roll Challenge. We look forward to completing this challenge again next year!

WIDA Testing
Hello LCMS Families:
Beginning on January 5, 2026, the Centennial School District will begin the annual WIDA ACCESS (Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English State-to-State) testing window for our English Learners (ELs). The WIDA ACCESS is a PDE mandated and federally reported assessment of English Language Proficiency (ELP). The families of our English learners will receive an email communication regarding the assessment from our Supervisor of Student Services, Althea Tomlinson.
Our school testing dates are: 1/26/26-2/13/26
The WIDA ACCESS assessment is an important tool that guides the individualized instruction of our English learners. If you have any questions about the assessment, you can reach out directly to your child’s English Language Development (ELD) teacher.
If your child is an English Learner, here are some things you can do to help your child prepare for the WIDA ACCESS:
Be sure your child/children are receiving an adequate amount of sleep during the testing dates
Be sure your child/children eat breakfast each morning before testing
Be sure your child/children bring their school issued electronic device fully charged to school every day
Encourage your child do their very best on the assessment
The GIANT Company, Round Up For Hunger
Centennial School District is proud to participate in the GIANT Feeding School Kids campaign!
From January 1 through March 31, shoppers can round up their purchase at the register at the
GIANT stores in Warminster and Southampton to support Centennial School District’s efforts to
combat childhood hunger.
Join us in making a difference—together, we can help ensure every child has access to the
nutrition they need to succeed.
