BOLD Referendum Milestones & Next Steps
Dear Families and Community Members,
It may be getting cold outside, but work continues at both sites into the winter months:
Bird Island Renovations:
Work is almost done on the gym's athletic flooring—it's 98% complete! The pintle and volleyball sleeves should be installed by the week ending December 20 and the bleacher installation is almost done. Work installing the stage curtains is also 85% complete.
Olivia Renovations:
The pool exterior restoration is coming along nicely, almost 90% complete, and demolition of the
interior walls has begun. Additionally, storm shelter fencing, removals, and utility relocation are
underway, with footing excavation and pouring expected to begin after the new year.
Progress on permits is moving along as the state review and comment has been addressed and
resubmitted as of December 9. Next phases of work are scheduled to begin in June 2025, but there's
potential some might get started a bit earlier so stay tuned!

Dear Warrior Families,
As we move into the third quarter of the 2024-25 school year, we are excited for the opportunities and growth that lie ahead. This is a time of year where students dive deeper into their learning and continue to build on their accomplishments.
We have many exciting events this quarter. Please see the "What's Happening at BOLD" section of this newsletter for a complete list! We’re especially thrilled to celebrate Family Time, a wonderful occasion that helps strengthen the connection between home and school. We hope you will be able to join us on Friday, January 20 at 2:00 for our quarter 2 event and Friday, March 21 for our quarter 3 event!
Additionally this month, students will be participating in Winter Benchmark testing through FastBridge. These assessments are an important tool that teachers use to measure student progress and identify areas where additional support might be needed. More information will be shared regarding the specific testing dates.
Finally, thank you for your continued partnership in making this school year a success. With the support of families, we know our students will achieve great things!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Krafka

BOLD 7-12 News
Greetings, BOLD Families!
Happy New Year and welcome to the second semester! After a much-welcomed holiday break, we are quickly settling into the second half of the school year. While the winter months can sometimes feel like they move slowly, they also seem to fly by. May 16—this year’s graduation day—will be here before we know it!
At the 7-12 level, here are a few key updates for the remaining months of the school year:
Upcoming Construction and Room Changes: Construction will begin soon and some teachers will need to move to different classrooms before the end of the year. While this shift may cause some temporary inconveniences for students in grades 7-12, it is a necessary and short-term adjustment.
Student Registration for 2025-2026: Registration for next school year begins in March. Students are expected to finalize their schedules before summer break. We will notify you when registration materials become available and we encourage you to ask your students what classes they will be taking.
Minnesota Student Survey: This year, the Minnesota Student Survey will be administered in February. Additional details will be shared with you soon.
Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCAs): MCA testing begins in late March. Students in grades 7, 8, 10, and 11 will participate in assessments covering one or more of the following subjects: reading, math, and science.
Welcome to Our New Counselor: Our new high school counselor, Darryl Correa, has joined us from the Philippines! A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped welcome him into the BOLD community. We are thrilled to have him on our team.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about these updates—or anything else—please don’t hesitate to reach out. Thank you for your continued support of the BOLD community. You are truly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Melissa Hoffman Bodin
