After 25 years of dedicated service to our Kura, we farewell a pou who has helped shape the hearts, minds, and futures of generations of tamariki. Whaea Ramia has been a valued member of our Te Kura o Te Pāroa whānau for a quarter of a century—an incredible commitment that deserves to be honoured with deep gratitude.

Throughout her time with us, Whaea Ramia has consistently held high expectations for our tamariki—expectations grounded not in pressure, but in belief. She has seen potential where others may not have, and she has called our tamariki forward with firmness, fairness, and aroha. Her teaching and leadership have always carried a clear message: you are capable, you are worthy, and you will rise.

Whaea Ramia’s legacy is also one of love and care—the kind that notices, the kind that protects, the kind that never gives up. She has nurtured confidence, restored dignity, and created spaces where tamariki feel safe to learn, to grow, and to be proudly Māori.

As Whaea Ramia steps into her new role as Tūmuaki at Woodlands, we acknowledge that she leaves us carrying a kete full of skill, experience, and strong leadership. Woodlands will be fortunate to receive her, just as we have been fortunate to walk alongside her for these past 25 years.

To Whaea Ramia: thank you for your service, your sacrifice, your laughter, your steadfastness, and your unwavering commitment to our tamariki and our Kura. You leave a lasting imprint on this place and on the many lives you have helped shape. While we will miss you deeply, we are also proud to see you move into this next chapter—continuing to lead with integrity, strength, and aroha.

Haere rā e Whaea. Haere ki tōu ara hou, ki tōu tūranga hou. Kei muri i a koe te aroha me te tautoko o tō Kura. Kia kaha, kia māia, kia manawanui.

Ngā mihi nui,

Erin Te Pou
Tūmuaki

Rebuild Update Rebuild Update

Build Update....

Kia ora whānau katoa! We are on track for handover of the next 6 new classes. Yeah! However, there are a few other things we need to share as we move into the next phase, the renovations of B Block.

  1. From 2.30pm the front gate will be LOCKED. This is to help us practice and prepare for the lack of access we will all have when the construction team moves to the front. For all pickups, please use the bus bay.

  2. Our Waharoa will be taken down as part of the project, to give truck access to the front site. This has given us the opportunity to plan a tidy up and fresh paint. Haupai is overseeing this project. More information will be come closer to the dates.

  3. On Thursday the final section of concrete was being laid. Tamariki will have access to their classrooms, back field and playground. Please use the pathways set, as there is a slight change of access near the pool (especially for those with Whaea Helen Korewha and Whaea Cilla).

He mihi tino nui ki a koutou mo to koutou tautoko. Thank you all for your amazing support as we watch our kura transform!

Fire Drill Fire Drill

Thank you to all staff and students for the way you managed not one, but two surprises last

Friday — a power cut and a fire drill. You evacuated calmly and efficiently. You knew exactly

where to go, and you kept yourselves and our students settled and reassured throughout.

Ka mau te wehi, whānau!

We evacuated in just 4 minutes — an outstanding effort.

Here are some of the reasons we were able to move so quickly:

● Teachers immediately had students seated in lines and began marking their registers.

● All teachers brought their registers outside, and some were able to put on their high-visibility vests.

● Teachers came directly to Whaea Ramia to be signed off.

● Whaea Cilla, who was on the opposite side of the school, used the walkie-talkie to quickly

communicate with Mrs McLean to sign off three nearby classes.

This was a true team effort. I am proud of the way everyone responded. Well done!

Attendance Plans Attendance Plans

From Term 1 2026, our Kura is required to have an Attendance Management Plan (AMP) in place.

These plans aim to improve student attendance by providing clear pathways to identify and address absences at different thresholds.

We know that for tamariki to succeed in te reo matatini and pāngarau, they need to be at school on time on every day. All students need to be in class by 8.45am ready to go.

At Te Kura o Te Pāroa, being present is how we grow confident, capable, and connected. future iwi leaders.

Outline of plan will be aligned to the STAR reporting, whereby actions will be determined by the number of days tamariki are absent.

For example:

For students with less that 5 days absence in a school term - 90% + attendance

- Contact maintained with whānau regarding any absences.

- Students and whānau given termly updates on their attendance.

- Tamariki given opportunities to catch up on any missed learning tasks (where possible).

- Celebrate great attendance in assemblies.

For students with up to 10 days absence in a school term - 80% attendance

- Contact made with whānau regarding any absences through phone calls or letters.

- Attendance monitored by class teacher and team leader.

- Check and connect hui with tamariki and Attendance team to monitor and celebrate attendance.

- Support to catch up on any missed learning tasks (where possible).

- Support and referrals for any identified barriers to attending kura.

- Additional time allocated to support missed learning tasks (where possible).

-Celebrate attendance improvement with Deputy Principal and Principal.
