Catching Up with the Coyotes
September 21, 2025
It's RED ENVELOPE WEEK!!!
Red Envelope Week is coming! The Canyon View Foundation’s BIGGEST FUNDRAISER of the year will take place between September 15 and October 3. What is the Red Envelope Fundraiser? The Canyon View Foundation's Red Envelope Fundraiser is a direct-ask campaign designed to support our students and school community by funding vital educational programs, including funding our instructors for our special programs such as Art, Music, P.E., Science, and IMPACT Reading. Your donations also support the Innovation Station Lab, technology, software licenses, playground equipment, and much more. These enriching programs and resources are not currently covered by PUSD's annual budget so we must turn to our school community to raise the funds ourselves. The Canyon View Foundation’s goal is to raise $150 per student during the Red Envelope campaign, which will cover half of our school's total expenses for these programs for the school year.
Individual, class and school-wide participation prize opportunities as well as theme spirit dress-up days are some of the things students can look forward to during Red Envelope Week. Donate in person at our Movie Night Kick Off on September 19th, via cash or check by returning your donations with the form that your child will bring home this week, or online at bit.ly/CVES-RED-ENVELOPE .
Participation is voluntary and not required.

CATCHING UP WITH... Mrs. Edmonston
Dear Coyote Families,
It was another wonderful week at Canyon View Elementary! Our Foundation-Funded Specials are underway. Students are beginning to experience Art and STEAM lessons with Mrs. Dawson, Science Lab with Mrs. Cortez, Choral Music with Mrs. Serrano, P.E. Enrichment with Coach Chase. Students Generally have one 1-hour special class per week, plus 30 minutes with Coach Chase. Grade levels rotate through music education - right now, 2nd graders are enjoying this opportunity! Ask your child what special they had this week!
I want to take the opportunity to remind you of two important ways to get involved at Canyon View.
- Red Envelope Week! Help your children to participate in the Spirit Days and donate if you are able to do so:
- Nominate Yourself for School Site Council: This is a low time-commitment way to learn more about our academic programs and be more involved in our School Plan for Student Achievement. School Site Council nominations will be accepted for an additional week.
Let's Make it a GREAT week!
Warmly,
Erica Edmonston
Principal, Canyon View Elementary School

Pepe is so excited to attend his first Hispanic Day parade. With new food to taste, music to dance to, and a parade to watch, Pepe couldn't be more thrilled to celebrate and share his Hispanic heritage. Many of Pepe's friends also attend the festival, celebrating their own Hispanic ties. Mexican, Dominican, Panamanian, Colombian, Honduran, Nicaraguan, Chilean, Puerto Rican, Salvadoran, Guatemalan, and Cuban cultures are all represented in the parade. A day filled with joy and pride, Pepe and the Parade is a jubilant celebration of culture and identity.

Parkinglot Reminders
- Please do not park along Adolphia Street between Black Mountain and the school entrance. Parking in that location pushes out the line of stopped cars waiting to get into the school, and blocks the only traffic lane, which then causes the stopped cars to back up all the way out onto Black Mountain Road. It is very dangerous!
- Park in marked spaces only: No curb parking along the perimeter of the lot, No parking in Reserved spaces, No parking in the BUS ONLY area.
- If you are driving to pick-up, use our pick-up lane. Meeting up in alternate areas in or around the parking lot is a safety hazard and is not permitted.
Green Cone Zone:
The Green Cone Zone is located on the east side of the parking lot. This area is reserved for loading/unloading of students in our preschool and Special Day Classes who require additional assistance ONLY (Ms. Marty, Ms. Morrison, Mrs. Ruble, and Ms. Dobson's classes). This is not a parking area for TK.
