Principal's Message Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we continue our Lenten journey, this week’s Gospel invites us to reflect more deeply on how we are called to live as followers of Christ. In this Sunday’s reading from the Gospel of Gospel of Luke (Luke 6:27–38), Jesus gives us a message that is both simple and challenging: “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you… Do to others as you would have them do to you.”

During Lent, we are asked to pray, fast, and give alms—but at the heart of these practices is transformation. Jesus calls us beyond what is easy. It is easy to be kind to those who are kind to us. It is harder to forgive. Harder to include. Harder to respond to negativity with compassion. Yet this is exactly what makes us witnesses to Christ’s love.

This message connects beautifully with what we mark this week as we recognize Pink Shirt Day. Pink Shirt Day began as a small act of kindness when two students stood up for a peer who was being bullied for wearing pink. Their simple choice sparked a movement that reminds us that bullying has no place in our schools or communities.

As a Catholic school, we do not stand against bullying simply because it is harmful—though it is. We stand against it because every person is made in the image and likeness of God. Each student in our hallways is a beloved child of God, worthy of dignity, respect, and compassion.

When we wear pink, we are making a visible commitment:

  • To choose kindness over cruelty.

  • To include rather than exclude.

  • To speak up rather than stay silent.

  • To forgive as Christ forgives us.

Lent challenges us to examine our hearts. Are there ways we can be more patient? More understanding? More willing to repair relationships? Pink Shirt Day is a powerful reminder that even small acts of courage and kindness can transform a community.

Let us continue this Lenten season by being intentional about how we treat one another—on the playground, in the classroom, online, and at home. May our school be a place where Christ’s love is not only spoken about but lived each day.

Thank you for your commitment to making our school a safe, welcoming, and faith-filled community.

Lenten blessings,

Kristie Phelan
Principal, St Luke

Children's Sacramental Preparation

Sacramental Preparation at OLPH. Our fall sessions are starting up this month and the children will celebrate these sacraments in December. (We also have support for families who wish to have their children Baptized, to "open the door" to these other sacraments.

Our parish is very grateful for the partnership of our Catholic Schools in the faith formation of our young people and their families! A personal email from the school Principal, the faith leader of the school, could make a special impact on families and encourage them to bring their children here to the Church for their sacraments. It could also be extremely helpful if the Grade 2-4 Homeroom Teachers would personally send parents a message about First Communion & Reconciliation for their children, and if Grade 6-8 Teachers could do so for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Thank you for everything you do!

Please fill out the registration forms below:
