As a Registered Nurse (RN), my role is to assess students' health needs, provide care within my scope of practice, and determine if they should remain at school or be sent home. It is not within my legal or professional scope of practice to diagnose medical conditions, including strep throat, influenza, or other illnesses. Only a licensed healthcare provider (such as a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant) can diagnose and prescribe treatment.
Please do not send your child to school for a diagnosis. If your child is showing signs of illness (fever, sore throat, rash, persistent cough, vomiting, etc.), please consult your healthcare provider before sending them to school.
🌟Attention 6th Grade Parents 🌟
All students entering 7th grade must show proof of having the Tdap and Meningococcal vaccines or a Certificate of Immunization Exemption on file before the first day of school . Currently, the state of Iowa does not offer any grace/extension period for the implementation of this requirement.
Now is a great time to schedule an appointment for your 6th grader. Your student will not be allowed to attend school if we do not receive this documentation. If your student has already received these vaccines, please ask your doctor’s office to fax the immunization record to the school at 712-277-5941.
