Principal'sWeekly UpdateWeek of September 16-20

Administrator's Message 🐾 Administrator's Message 🐾

Wildcat Families,

It's been a challenging week for our students, and we want to share with you the areas of concern we are seeing on the rise:

  • Social media issues between students. Please continue to monitor your child's social media accounts, and reminding them that anything posted is there forever, even if they delete it. We want for our students to understand the power behind social media, and to use it responsibly. In addition, remind your student that if they see something, it is imperative that they report it.
  • Backpack tags are starting to go missing. Though the tags themselves are not of value, students have been upset about these situations. Please advise them to keep items of value at home, and to take care of their belongings. Also, remind them to keep their hands off others' property.
  • Rough-housing, or playfighting is becoming more prevalent. It inevitably tends to result in students being upset and situations escalating. Please remind your students to keep their hands to themselves and respect personal space.

We truly appreciate your support in ensuring we work together in partnership to maintain a safe learning environment for all of our students.

-Ms. Rivera & Ms. Rockwell

Celebrating Our Community’s Diversity Celebrating Our Community’s Diversity

The cities of Fairfield and Suisun City are two of the most diverse communities in California. To honor that diversity, each week FSUSD will be sharing information about the cultures that make up our extra special learning community.

In 1968, U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson first proclaimed Hispanic Heritage Week as sponsored by Congress. It was expanded to a month in 1988 by President Ronald Reagan. The Hispanic Heritage Month was enacted into law on August 17, 1988. September 15 was chosen as the starting date to celebrate the independence of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala and Nicaragua, all in 1812.

The National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated in the United States, Canada and Latin America. The 30-day period aims to celebrate the culture, achievements and contributions of American citizens with Hispanic roots.
