Week 38
Weekly Update
Dear Elmore School Families,
We have reached the end of our final full week of school. This morning I woke up in my mothers's camp on my other favorite lake, Joe's Pond, and I am reflecting on all of our amazing accomplishments we have made over the year, and all of the wonderful memories we will take with us. This week we had several highlights. On Tuesday, we went to MES to see the Graphic Novelist, Matt Heagerty. On Thursday we had a picnic Lunch at Martha and George Twombly's camp on Beach Road, and on Friday we had a very hot, but fun Field Day.
As we wrap up our academic school year, we squeezed in some final math lessons, writing opportunities and plenty of time to reflect on our school year. Students worked on finishing up memory letters they write each year to the their classmates, we made thank you cards for Mrs. Boudreau, and they worked on individual memory books as a way to reflect on their school year.
On Monday, Heather Hill joined us at the end of the day to tie dye t shirts! Every one will get a custum made shirt! Thank you Heather, for this fun project and momento!
We all enjoyed meeting Matt Heagerty at the MES Library on Tuesday. He is a dynamic speaker who entertained the children with his relatable, personal story about growing up with ADHD and Dyslexia. While academics did not come easy for him as a student, he thrived in many creative ways, which he was recognized for. He later turned this creative energy into a successful career as a graphic novelist.
In Keeping with traditions, Martha and George Twombly hosted us for a lovely picnic lunch at their camp on Beach Road on Thursday. We enjoyed homemade mac and cheese, grilled hotdogs, chips, fresh berries and ice cream and cake for dessert. We are so thankful for these wonderful moments like this with members of the Elmore community.
Friday was feeling a lot like summer with hot and humid temperatures. With temperatures expected to soar in the high 80's by afternoon, we opted to hold our field day activities in the morning. It was still quite warm, but we mixed up the activities with some fun water games to keep us all cool! I think it is safe to say, everyone had a fun morning.
Annamary, would like to have one last recorder rehearsal with the 3rd graders on Monday morning. They will be having a small performance at the Graduation ceremony. Please make sure 3rd graders have their recorders and books on Monday as well as at Graduation. Thanks you!
We will end the school year next week with one last full day of school on Monday and a half day on Tuesday. We will eat lunch before dismissal on Tuesday. Dismissal will be at 12:15. Our 3rd Grade Graduation and end of year family picnic potluck will be that evening from 5:30 - 7:00. All families (grades 1-3) are invited to attend and all students will be performing (3rd graders on their recorders, and all students will be singing).
