It's Book Fair Time

This week Bayyari will be hosting the Scholastic Book Fair. It will be open during the day for students and families to shop as well as during the evenings of conferences. Please stop by the library with your child and see what great adventures you can find in a good book! You may also send money with your child to shop during the school day. Every purchase from the book fair earns rewards for our school. You may also shop online or just check out what books are available. Bayyari Book Fair Link

Counselor's Corner

Do you know how much sleep your child needs? According to The American Academy of Pediatrics:
  • Infants 4 months to 12 months should sleep 12 to 16 hours per 24 hours (including naps) on a regular basis to promote optimal health.
  • Children 1 to 2 years of age should sleep 11 to 14 hours per 24 hours (including naps) on a regular basis to promote optimal health.
  • Children 3 to 5 years of age should sleep 10 to 13 hours per 24 hours (including naps) on a regular basis to promote optimal health.
  • Children 6 to 12 years of age should sleep 9 to 12 hours per 24 hours on a regular basis to promote optimal health.
  • Teenagers 13 to 18 years of age should sleep 8 to 10 hours per 24 hours on a regular basis to promote optimal health.

Kids need enough sleep to be able to pay attention, make good choices, learn, remember things, regulate their emotions, and stay healthy. In addition to these recommendations, the AAP suggests that all screens be turned off 30 minutes before bedtime and that TV, computers and other screens not be allowed in children's bedrooms. For infants and young children, establishing a bedtime routine is important to ensuring children get adequate sleep each night.

Meet Our Bears! Meet Our Bears!

Mrs. Monica Burchfield

Every week we want to introduce you to a fabulous Bear that works at Bayyari. We have some of the best teachers and staff in the world and we can't wait for you to get to know them!

Monica Burchfield comes to us from McGehee, AR. This is her twenty-seventh year teaching. She graduated from University of Arkansas, Monticello with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. Mrs. Burchfield is a 2nd grade teacher at Bayyari.

When Mrs. Burchfield is not teaching, she enjoys shopping, cooking, decorating, reading, crafts, swimming and traveling. She has two great kids of her own who are both in college. It is hard for her to believe they are all grown up! Luckily, she gets to spend her days teaching and learning with the great students at Bayyari.
