Wildcat Weekly ENG 08/17/26
Wildcat Weekly
From the Principal
As the first day of school quickly approaches, we are looking forward to welcoming our Wildcats back to West Elementary on Wednesday, August 19! The excitement is building, and our staff is ready to begin another wonderful year of learning, growth, and success For the W.
Please remember that the school day begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. We encourage families to arrive with enough time for students to enter the building, get settled, and be ready to learn when the day begins. Establishing a consistent morning routine helps students start each day feeling confident and prepared.
If your child rides the bus, please check your transportation information ahead of time to ensure a smooth first morning. If you will be dropping your child off instead of using bus transportation, please use the designated drop-off area on Joanna Avenue, behind the school. This procedure helps us keep traffic moving safely while providing a secure arrival for all students. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as everyone settles into the routine during the first few days of school.
We are grateful for your partnership and look forward to seeing our students' smiling faces fill the hallways once again. Thank you for helping us create a safe, welcoming, and positive start to the school year. We cannot wait to see everyone on Wednesday, August 19, at 8:00 a.m. for an amazing first day together!

Your Guide to the School Year
Our District Handbook is a helpful resource for families and students, providing important information about school policies, procedures, expectations, and resources. We encourage families to review the handbook and keep it handy throughout the school year. Please review the District Handbook for more information: https://west.zion6.org/our-resources/handbook
Title I Information
West Elementary School in Zion, IL is a Title I school, which means we receive federal funding to help ensure all students have access to a high-quality education. This support allows us to provide extra help in reading and math for students who may need it. Title I funding also helps us offer additional classroom resources, technology, and instructional materials. Our teachers use these tools to create engaging lessons that meet each child’s learning needs. Families may also see more school programs and activities designed to support learning at home. Being a Title I school helps us work together to give every student the opportunity to succeed.
