Physics Made Fun!
Last week in Mr. Georg's physics class, students were asked to design and build a freestanding tower using only uncooked spaghetti and gumdrops. This assignment required them to work as a team to come up with a design that would be stable, and at the same time could reach its maximum height. Towers were measured from the tabletop to the highest point to determine overall height. There were several very good designs, with multiple teams building stable towers reaching in excess of 30 inches. This project taught students basic engineering and physics principles like weight distribution and structural support, and also built on important life skills like teamwork, problem-solving, and learning from failure.
Cross Country
Our Cross Country team traveled to Vista Ridge to compete on Friday morning for their first competition of the season. The Varsity boys got 2nd place in their meet and there were lots of PR's achieved. Keep up the great work, cross country!

Student Accident Insurance
FISD has supplemental accident insurance for students. It is broad coverage in that it covers all students. The activities must be supervised by District personnel. Since it is secondary insurance, the parents do have to file the claim with their primary health insurance company first. After that primary coverage has paid any benefit, the parent would then provide the explanations of benefits to the school’s student accident insurance carrier.
If the parent does not have health insurance coverage for the child then the insurance becomes primary on the claims. Parents could be responsible for some payment since the insurance pays against a schedule of benefits. Particularly if they do not have other primary coverage on their student. There are exclusions. One notable one is for injuries sustained during a fight. In the event that your student is involved in an accident in athletics please talk to Ms. Ray about this, for all other areas visit with Mr. Ryan the school nurse.
