The Weekly Words
December 7, 2025
At Noble Elementary, we believe that every student has the right to learn and grow in a safe and respectful environment. We also believe that every student has the power to make positive choices, learn from mistakes, and become stronger leaders in our school community. Noble Elementary empowers all students for college and career readiness through AVID’s schoolwide focus on WICOR, student success skills, and a growth mindset.
Last week, the Noble Explorers slid into the coolest place in town - the Cleveland Heights Ice Rink! The Explorers got to put on skates and learn the basics of ice skating - many for the first time! We thank the many parent and grandparents who were able to join them! Next Friday, they will travel to the Natural History Museum to learn about owls!

Mini Goals
Team,
Feeling stuck in these last 2 instructional weeks of 2025? Consider developing 2 mini-goals for this week and next to close out the last instructional weeks of 2025 strong. Reflect on your practices and decide on 1 goal that will impact your classroom climate and 1 goal that will impact your delivery of content. It should be bite-sized and easy to implement.
Consider the following examples:
- Conduct one Cold Call session per class. Focus on pausing and scanning before saying the name.
- Circle back to students who answered incorrectly to make them repeat the correct answer. Don’t let wrong answers off the hook.
- Use a timer/stopwatch for every single item on your agenda to help your pacing of the lesson.
- Hold out for 100% student engagement, 100% of the time.
- Deliver Precise Praise loudly for specific, observable behaviors that you want to reinforce.
- Plan to use Call and Response 3 times throughout a lesson to build engagement.
- Teach a specific chant or cheer in class to build “us-ness.”
These are optional. For those interested, what are your mini goals? Feel free to send them to me via email to be entered into our Weekly Words raffle for some seasonal prizes. We are going to finish strong; we've got this!
Mr. Walker, M.Ed.
Principal
From the Assistant Principal's Desk
Hi team,
We’ve officially entered the “messy middle” of the school year—the stretch where routines are tested, energy dips, and the shine of August feels far away. This part of the year is real and challenging, but it’s also where our collective strength matters most. As the pace increases, it’s important to remember the role we play in creating order, predictability, and stability for our students each day.
In the midst of the midyear push, our steadiness truly matters. Students look to us to be clear, consistent, and reassuring. We’ve navigated this part of the year before, and we’ll do it again with intention and teamwork. Thank you for the professionalism and heart you bring to our building every single day.

Ms. Hui brought the literacy lobby to life as she worked with a small group of PreK students, using gestures and intentional moves to reinforce sounds and word parts! Her focused and warm approach made a strong impact on our youngest learners!

10 Days of School Before Winter Break
To celebrate the 10 days of school before Winter Break, your admin team is excited to share a little cheer each day!
It was 10 days before Winter Break, my admin gave to me…
Coffee and Dunkin’ Donuts waiting in the staff lounge tomorrow morning!
Thank you for everything you do to make Noble shine. Let the celebrations begin!
You've Been Socked!
In addition to gifts from admin, beginning tomorrow, we will have a "You've Been Socked!" initiative on campus! Shout-out to a secret staff member for getting this started! This activity is exclusively for the Noble Staff to celebrate and spread fun among colleagues. Someone will be "socked" tomorrow, so be on the lookout!
What's Next? (Socking Guidelines)
Display the Sign: Place the "You've Been Socked!" sign that you will receive (the top part of this paper) clearly on your classroom door. This signals that you have already been selected.
Prepare the provided Stocking: Gather some special treats or small holiday surprises and use them to fill the provided empty stocking.
Continue the Surprise: Secretly deliver the filled stocking and this instruction paper to a staff member who has not been "socked" yet (i.e., they do not have the sign on their door).
Let's spread the holiday fun and cheer!
Action Item: Complete SEL Needs Screener by 12/19
We are introducing the Strengths and Needs Screener, a quick, 9-item universal tool designed to objectively assess student needs and strengths across various domains. The SNS efficiently captures needs in the areas of externalizing behavior and internalizing behavior. Crucially, it also identifies strengths in relationship and social skills, emotion regulation and coping skills, and executive functioning and self-management skills. We emphasize the importance of being as objective as possible when providing ratings, basing your support needs assessment on observable student behavior.
For a detailed breakdown of the assessment categories, please refer to the "Categories" tab within the tool. To ensure smooth administration, we ask that staff follow these four key steps: (1) Decide on the data setup (single Screening Data tab or separate teacher tabs); (2) Review the provided Screener Administration & Training Deck; (3) Dedicate protected time for completion; and (4) Generate the summary data using the CST2 Menu drop-down once all data is compiled in the Screening Data tab. For a more comprehensive understanding of universal screening, please view the Universal Screening training available in your CST2 professional learning menu and the overview video provided here: https://youtu.be/HnyFZ58PR5s.
Action Item: Supplementals at CH-UH & Noble

Fall Interim Analysis - District-Wide
On behalf of the C&I team, we are sharing the complete Q1 interim assessment analysis document for Math (3rd through Algebra), ELA (4th through ELA II), and Science (5th, 8th, and Biology).
C&I recognizes that this analysis is being distributed well after the Q1 assessments were administered, but we believe this comprehensive, district-level performance data remains beneficial for reflection and informing your current instructional strategies. Please use this information to pinpoint specific areas of strength and weakness within your classes.
C&I is committed to providing more timely data moving forward; their plan is to conduct and release a similar district-level analysis as quickly as possible following the completion of the Q2 interim assessments to ensure the information is actionable for the remainder of the school year.
