In accordance with Texas Education Code 28.004 and Senate Bill 9, 5th grade students will receive instruction on the required health TEKS specific to abuse prevention and violence prevention.

Under Texas statute, parents/guardians must provide consent for their student to participate in the lessons that address the topics of abuse prevention and violence prevention.

On Tuesday, September 1, 2026, parents/guardians will receive information via email on how to view associated lessons and record their decision for student participation in these lessons.

Below are the windowsfor both the parent consent and when lessons will be taught:

Parent Consent Window: September 1, 2026 – September 30, 2026

Instruction Window: November 3, 2026 – December 17, 2026

De acuerdo con el Código de Educación de Texas 28.004 y el Proyecto de Ley del Senado 9 (Senate Bill 9), los estudiantes de 5.º grado recibirán instrucción sobre los TEKS de salud requeridos específicamente relacionados con la prevención del abuso y la prevención de la violencia.

The Department of Special Education is pleased to offer a series of District Autism Parent Trainings for parents and caregivers of students receiving special education services. These trainings are designed to provide families with information, strategies, and resources to support their child's success at home, in school, and within the community.

All trainings will be conducted virtually through Microsoft Teams (LINK). Please see the attached flyer for dates, times, and training topics.

Love and Logic parenting classes will be offered during the Fall semester of 2026. Katy ISD families from any campus may register to attend.

Families who wish to participate in Love and Logic courses may pay $10 for the cost of the Love and Logic workbook through the Pay 'N Go system. Please reach out to the campus Love and Logic facilitator to sign up and arrange to pick up materials.

Purposeful People is an initiative that encourages us to recognize and celebrate the people who make a positive difference in the lives of others. It reminds us that small acts of kindness, compassion, encouragement, and support can have a lasting impact.

Before volunteering at Schmalz, all volunteers must be registered and approved through Katy ISD’s Raptor system. Volunteers must register or re-register each school year.

Once you’re approved, you can volunteer at any Katy ISD campus and easily track your volunteer hours. Thank you for helping keep our Schmalz Sharks safe! 💙

The YMCA provides a safe, engaging environment where students can participate in homework time, enrichment activities, games, and more before and after the school day.
