Happy Holidays, RCHS!
Wishing you a joyful holiday season!
Principals' Message
The month of November was a busy one despite fall sports ending. All of our clubs are meeting regularly, Mrs. O'Day and Ms. Madigan directed our drama production, Done to Death, Mr. Pickell and Ms. Stark conducted our band and choir concerts, respectively, and with tryouts complete for winter sports, we are ready for a new athletic season. We also want to recognize the 67 students that were inducted into National Honor Society last Thursday. Their hard work, character, and service to our community earned them acceptance into this prestigious group and we are so proud of them. Finally, we've also enjoyed great food & tasty treats with many clubs hosting bake sales to fund raise for local causes, teacher specials from our Culinary students, Mrs. Heulitt and her Popcorn Pirates, and our first Pirates-giving for our Staff. It's been a season of friendship and fellowship and we are grateful for our RCHS family.
Wishing our Pirate Community a safe and healthy holiday season.
Mrs. Furkas & Mr. DiBrano

Chemistry in Action with Mrs. Rebeka & her Chem students
Mrs. Rebeka and 14 of her Chemistry students took advantage of the opportunity to take a quick trip across the street to Piramal Pharma Solutions to learn about some of the chemistry used in the pharmaceutical industry. Piramal is a global company with a presence in North America, Europe and Asia. The Riverview facility focuses primarily on the manufacturing of high potency, active pharmaceutical ingredients. In other words, creating and manufacturing the active ingredients in the pill, tablet or injectable drug taken by patients all over the world. The specific work, they found out, is highly confidential! However, the students did learn that they work on many "orphan drugs," or drugs used to treat rare diseases and cancers. The students also learned about the different departments within the facility, the type of work they do, the degrees they hold, etc. They were taken as a group on a tour of the facility to learn a bit about the chemistry behind the work and the checks and balances involved to make sure their products are of the highest quality.
With 13 juniors and 1 senior in the group, deciding what's next after high school is on all of their minds. Being able to see science in action during this field trip was as helpful as a college tour! This experience got raving reviews by the students and the Chemistry teacher and we at RCHS cannot wait to continue with this community partnership.
Congratulations to All - State swimmer, Liv Czata!
Congratulations to Riverview senior, Liv Czata on finishing 6th in the state at last Saturdayβs meet which was held at Eastern Michigan University. Liv is the first individual All-State swimmer since 1989!! Other state qualifiers this past weekend were: Amelia Czata, Evie Mac, Sophia Reyes, Mia Saineghi and Emma Seitz. They, and the rest of the Swim & Dive team, represented the Riverview community proudly throughout the season.
