The LMHS Open House will be on Thursday, September 17 from 6:00pm - 7:30pm. This is an opportunity for parents/guardians to meet your student's teachers. At LMHS, Open House is very free-form -- all teachers will be in their classrooms during the Open House timeframe, and you can visit them in any order that you wish. Come with your student's schedule, or we can print one for you in the Main Office that night. We hope to see you there!
Band Director Joanne Nelson has been selected to be a member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra's Education Advisory Council. The BSO is seeking to expand its educational activities beyond Boston, and Ms. Nelson's membership on the Council is a part of this. Already, she has helped deliver professional development at the Linde Center at Tanglewood, and arranged for local high school marching band members to participate in this year's Tanglewood On Parade.
While certainly the usefulness (and appropriateness) of ranking schools is a matter for debate, we do report that US News has published its latest national High School Rankings. For 2026, LMHS has been ranked as #3 (of 13) in Berkshire County, #92 (of 408) in Massachusetts, and #2,105 (of 17,945) nationally. US News uses a variety of factors in its rankings, including standardized test scores, college admission rates, dropout rate, and more.
