HPE is excited to launch a new family portal, your one-stop shop for staying connected to your child's school life. Designed with parents and caregivers in mind, the portal provides secure, 24/7 access to important information for all of your children, even if they attend different HPE schools.

You'll be able to view:

• Contact information on record

• Credits earned (secondary school)

• Attendance

• Progress reports and report cards

• Important announcements

The portal is specifically for you—your children will continue to use their own student accounts. Once you register, your secure login is unique to you and you are required to keep your login name and password private.

We would like to invite all new grade 9 students to come to ESS for our Grade 9 orientation on Wednesday August 26th, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. You should bring a water bottle for the day, wear clothing that allows you to be active and it’s ok to leave your backpack at home as you’ll be changing locations a lot! A pizza lunch will be provided. Each Grade 9 student will have one or two LINK leaders who they will meet during orientation. LINK Leaders are senior students who will be your mentors for your first year of high school. The purpose of the orientation and mentorship program is to help ease the transition for Grade 9 students into high school, meet new people and encourage Grade 9s to get involved at Eastside Secondary. During orientation you will take part in a number of fun activities and more information will be went out later in the summer about your transition to grade 9!

New students who have moved to our catchment or are looking to re-enroll are asked to visit https://ess.hpedsb.on.ca/about_ess/register_for_school and follow the steps to regsiter.

Updated student medical plans are due before the start of the school year in September. Please review the actions below to ensure your child’s file is up to date:

• No plan on file? If your child requires a medical plan but doesn't have one, please contact the office ASAP.

• Did you receive a package of new forms? Please have these completed and signed by a Regulated Health Professional (Doctor, Pharmacist, or Registered Nurse). Ensure it includes detailed emergency instructions.

• Existing HPE plan? If your child's plan is already on the updated HPE forms and needs no changes, please sign and return the attestation form to continue the plan for September.

At Eastside, we want our students and families to be well informed. We have multiple ways that we will communicate with you:

1. Direct email: please make sure that when you review the information form in September that you verify a correct email address.

2. Social media: please follow up on Facebook and Instagram so that you can stay up-to-date on the amazing things happening at ESS.

3. Website: be sure to check out ess.hpedsb.on.ca as it has a lot of great information including an ESS Events calendar.

4. Newsletter: We will publish “The Raven Report” newsletter and send it directly to the email that we have on file.

We also encourage two-way communication between the classroom teacher and home, so please reach out to your child’s teacher at any point. Contact information can be found on our website.
