Tonight at 7: Come See Debaters in Real Time! Tonight at 7: Come See Debaters in Real Time!

HF's debate team is putting on their last public debate of the year so students and families can watch our senior state champs and national qualifiers debate in real time! Join us in the North Cafeteria (off Governors Hwy) tonight, April 24th at 7 p.m. Admission is $3 per person and the audience will submit their ballot to decide the winner!

The topic being debated is: Resolved: The United States federal government should repeal Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. What does this resolution mean? In short, if Section 230 was repealed it would open up the possibility for social media companies like Facebook to be held liable for things like hate speech and violent rhetoric that might appear on their platform. We hope to see you there!

Affinity Networking Conference Featured in ISBE Newsletter Affinity Networking Conference Featured in ISBE Newsletter

HF DEI Coordinator Catherine Ross-Cook and partners from the Illinois Affinity Group Network hosted its Amplifying Voices Conference in February, and recently were featured in the ISBE Newsletter.

"Be Collective, an initiative led by five Illinois Affinity Group facilitators across different districts, recently concluded its annual conference, emphasizing this year's theme: VOICE. The event provided a platform for educators of color to share their perspectives and experiences, while students voiced their own encounters within their schools and districts. These discussions spurred meaningful dialogue on how educators can better support the learning and belonging of students of color." Read the full newsletter to learn more here.
